1. This is my old rig and she's already sold.
2. Well guys I went I looked and I compared and all I can say is wow. Both amp and cab combinations were great. But the littlemark tube800 won me over and the traveler cabs just amazing I can only assume they fill those damn things will helium or something because I cannot understand how they get that power handling from something that compact and light. So I have gone for the 210 cab and the 115 cab in the traveler range and the littlemark tube 800. Now I've got to try and sell my Ashdown rig. Wish me luck.
3. Cheers for all your contributions I'll let you all know how I get on tomorrow
4. Cheers guys it's good too know that I'm looking in the right place and more volume is a must as my Ashdown seems lacking. But more bottom end is also going to be needed as I'm playing more outdoor and large venues. And my current rig just gets lost.
5. Thanks that's good to know both amps have a lot going for them so it's going to be down to personal taste now really. I'm taking my current rig with me as a benchmark so I won't be going in blind. And as mentioned earlier I will see just how loud these amps are as I have mine to compare it's then just a case of finding the right cabs to go with the head I choose. I think it's gonna be a long day. But a lot of fun.
6. Yes I know that's why I'm changing the whole rig on just the amp I'm looking at cab from both brands too but heads tend to be the part that break down I e overheating and such. And as they are class d solid state so I'm just wondering about there reliability.
7. Well I'm not overly fussed on the 750 anyway it's bh800 I'm looking at and the little mark 800 tube tomorrow and as I said I'm looking for people's views on reliability as my current rig which is Ashdown has served me flawlessly for five years and has been bullet proof even in direct sunlight. I'm just finding I'm in need of more power as the Ashdown seems lacking for a 600w head and as we are now playing more outdoor events and larger venues it seemed the right time to upgrade.
8. I'm going to try them both but it was more a case of how reliable they are and whether anybody had any experience with them and to my knowledge the RH 750 is 750 W or so it states on the websites how have you come to the conclusion that it's 236 w
9. Hey everyone it's been a while since I posted last but here goes. I'm looking to update and improve my rig with a new head and cabs. I'm going to audition the above mentioned brands tomorrow and I'm looking at the 800w class d models in both brands. Little mark 800/tube. TC bh800. What I'm looking for is any reviews with regards to durability and reliability And if any of you have used or own the TC bh800 Is the tone print something you use regularly or is it a gimmick that soon becomes tiresome and annoying? I'm also going to take a look at the TC rh750 as this has had some fantastic reviews also. Thanks in advance Mark.
10. Ive just purchased one of these fom ebay and im absalutely discusted with it there is all kinds of interference when you play a note. The cable seems to be very cheap so when you move it around it crackles and i have tried using it at my local studio and on my ashdown rig with diffeent cables and it makes no difference at all plus i have noticed that when you tap the transmitter you can hear it through the amp. i do hope i have a duff one as it bloody shoddy for ashdown in my opinion and i would expect a much better product from them. Markus
11. Yeah i have to say im very happy with my purchase it looks so nice i am a little upset with the fact that i couldnt have the maple neck but it really did sound different so for the difference in sound it seemed to make more sense to go for the rosewood neck. It really does look lovely still so i cant complain i may get a maple neck for my p bass instead lol Markus
12.
I would have probably felt differently if I'd got the maple neck, and not been keen on the rosewood All said it's a very good bass for the money. It was either the SR300 or a Squire VMJ, both very good but the Ibby felt more me. All the best with your new purchase Rich
Weel what do you know i didnt get the maple neck despite it looking fantastic it just didnt sound as nice i didnt realise that the necks being made of a different wood made such a difference. still never mind i still got the candy apple red one and i loved the sound im very happy with the look weight and sound of the ibanez im very happy with my purchase. <arkus
13.
Nope, it's a mono amp with two separate power amps, each running at 500W into 4 ohms, just like Pete said -- effectively two 500W bass heads in one box, both sharing a preamp and EQ stage.
ok i didnt realise that if that is the case and it has two amps that share eq settings then there is no problem with running the two 4 ohm cabs on it then and as they are 350 each that will give you plenty of head room. Markus
14.
I don't think this is quite right. According to the manual, the LGs are 2 x 500 Watt into 4 Ohms, not 1000W into a single 4 Ohm load. What the OP probably needs is either a pair of 500W-ish 4 Ohm cabs, or two 350W-ish 8 ohm cabs. I suspect you wouldn't really notice the difference in overall volume between running each side at 4 or 8 ohm. When I had a technical question about a piece of Ashdown gear, I emailed the support line and got an answer back the same day. I suggest that rather than guess, or spend a load of money on something you don't need, it might be worth doing the same.
If the amp was a two chanel amp then you would be right but i think you will find it is a mono amp and there for it is a 1000w amp it has two outputs so that you can run two cabs off of it from seperate outputs so that any one lead is not under to much load my ashdown amp has two outputs on it and they can run at four or eight ohms but i cant run two 4 ohm cabs on it if you run two four ohm cabs then the amp will run at two ohms and unless it is designed to the amp will not be happy and it will probably result in the amp failing. if it turns out that the amp is a stereo amp which i doubt but its possible then running the two cabs will be fine but i would check that first. 15.
Fortunately adding the extra cab gives you an extra 6dB because not only does the amp give more power but the speakers increased surface area improves its mechanical coupling to the air making it louder. basically at low frequencies more of the speakers energy goes into making sound rather than just stirring the air. If you are going through the PA then the only reason you need an amp at all is so that you and the other band members can hear what you are playing on stage. Your set up really should be loud enough. Even if your 15's are very inefficient at say 94 dB/w then two with 200W through them will produce peaks of 120dB which means you could easily play at an average level of 100dB which is loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss if you keep it up for long. If you are having trouble hearing then try this: turn down the bass a little (10-11 o'clock on the Ashdown) this will allow your amp to go up a bit before it clips which means you can have more of everything else. Try gently boosting the mids which is what you hear more clearly when everyone else is going. If the Ashdown is the Evo model then use a bit of compression which moves the average level a bit closer to the peaks and makes everything sound louder just like the ads on TV sound louder than the programs.
i had two cabs before so my setup speaker wise is exactly the same as it is now but even with both cabs running and the amps volume level all the way up it still wasnt loud enough really. i mean it was but only just the needle on the vu was just bouncing in to the red on occasion i had already turned the bass down a little and i really coudln't get any more out of it i just hope the new amp will be sufficient enough to do the job. as i said before i do wonder if that particular venue was more of a problem than hte amp as it was a very strange size and shape so i suppose its quite possible that the rooms accoustic properties were not helping either that or i might have had a duff amp i suppose anything is possible il have to wait untill i next get to use the new one fingers crossed Markus
16. yeah no problem the valve head have a different sound to them much clloser to what your looking for i would think give em a try cant hurt. Markus
17. No your right worry had a bid of a momney there im not sure what i was thinking if your running a four ohm cab with four speakers there is no way of re wireing it up to make it an eight ohm cab sorry about that once again. Markus
18. yeaj i know there isnt a great deal of difference in actuall listening volume when it comes to amps being twice the wattage its something like a 10% increase or so apposed to double which is what lot of people think because the wattage has doubled im hoping that i wont need any more than that as im not really prepared to spend any more money if its still not loud enough im gonna be a little stumped i guess it will be the drivers il have to change or something. heres hoping not im rather hoping it was more to do with the venue than anything else. Big open space with really high celings cant be good im sure? Markus
19. Have you considered using an ashdown amp the abm range have a valve drive on them which you can use for clean and dirty which is diteremed by using the valve drive dial. It also has a DI out and a line out/tuner out option too. The 300w version is only about 350 depending on where you buy them from they also do a 500w version which is actually 575w but these are a little more expensive at arount the 500 quid mark but if you shop around and use a sertain auction site that we all know of you can find them much cheaper. Hope this helps. Markus
20. ok i guess this is more of a question that an answer but do you use effects and if so are some of the multi effects pedals out there classed as a powered r=pre amp there for giving the required boost to make using the power amp worth using then? Markus
21. I have to say i think your on the money to be honest an orange amp is the way to go they sound amaizing ive heard a few different orange amps over the years bass and guitar and they all sounded fantastic i would think that would be an excelent choice. plus as you said the missus likes orange lol. Markus
22. thats a nice looking little combo amp got a mean look to it i would hope it has the sound to match its brutish looks. Markus
23. As far as running lower wattage cabs on high power amps there is no problem it is better to do things that way than have cabs that want more power than your amp can give asuming you dont just turn everything up to eleven and play lol. If your cab requires more power you may well find yourself running the amp at a level that it is not happy with and subequently kill the thing well before its time. If you have an amp that is rated higher than your cabs you will have head room the amp wont struggle and it will be much happier running a smaller cab using less power. You will obviously have to listen out for signs of stress on your speakers as they will tell you when something isnt right but other than that there should be no problems. if your amp is rated at 1000w at 4ohms then you cant put two 4ohm cabs threw it if you do you will run the very serious risk of blowing your amp up. your choices are simple either change your cabs/speakers for two 8ohms cabs rated at anything up to 500w per cab personally i would have them at about 350-400 for the sake of head room or run the single cab and keep the volume down far enough that the cab isnt complaining about it. By the way if you are happy to try this i wuld have a look at the 4x10 cab you have and see if you could re wire it to run at 8ohms this is easy to find out if you pull one of the drivers out of the cab and check its ohm rating on the back you will be able to determine if you can re wire it or not if the drivers you have in the cab are all 16ohms then you can do it if they are not then you would need to change the units and it would prbably start to get expensive. If you can re wire then then you only need to find an 8ohm 15" driver for the other cab that would be a nice cheap way of running your two exsisting cabs with very little outlay. Markus
24. andy apple would sparkle a bit the red sparkle one is majorly sparkly i know what you mean about the blue one it is a really nice blue and i would agree the maple would look lovely on that too im hoping to see a CA one in a few days with the rose wood and the maple neck i got to travel a little way to see it but it will be worth it. I know maple isnt for everyone but im a bit of a fan on it to be honest i have a cream p bass with a white scratch plate and i want to put a maple neck on that i think it would amaizing with it on but i may not bother once o got the ianez as it might look a little OTT with them both being maple necks we will see.
