    Breathtaking.  Do you have an image of the side of the neck for position markers (and are these 'on the line' or 'between')?  Again, utterly breathtaking in every respect

    Thanks. The position markers are 'on the line'  - F - G - A and so on.

  2. This is something I never expected to do...put my custom built (design and spec produced in conjunction with Jens) up for sale :O(

    After a serious back injury I find I can no longer play bass with any degree of comfort (and hauling bass gear around????).

    This is just simply one of the finest basses in the world. It has a beautifully carved neck, very comfy, sculpted body shape and is lightweight at 3.6 kg. The electronic design was custom made to keep the front controls simple, with a master volume and rotary pick-up pan. The eq is adjusted via the back panel. Complete spec in the pics.

    There is very slight string marking on the fretboard which will easily polish out...if I get a chance I'll do that but just being honest about the condition.

    The bass has a virtually unused Gigblade case.

    ** I might consider another bass (it'd be a shame not to have one in the house ;O)) or an electric/electro-acoustic guitar, in part exchange. **

    How are the coil taps operated?

    Apologies, I should have made that clear in the description. The micro switches have never been installed, hence the small, wooden plugs above the tone controls. A fairly easy, and cheap job.

  4. I bought this lovely bass direct from Mark Ramsay (RMI Bass). This is a Montage 33" scale that Mark described as: "The Montage is neither a clone nor a prototype. The bass is an original, bespoke creation designed for a niche breed of player". The bass has had some modifications made, by Mark, to get everything has he wanted. If you look at the pictures you will see that there are three wooden plugs where the micro-switches were going to be added for coil tap etc - the plugs will push out should you wish to install the switches. The back of the neck had a bit of refinishing but nothing that impacts on the playing. The frets also have had some reworking/reprofiling to allow for a low action and smooth playing.

    A Gator semi hard case is also available.

    The weight is 3.6kgs.

    Full Spec:

    Specification:
    * 33" Scale
    * Translucent tobacco burst
    * 5-string tuned E-C

    * C-shape neck profile
    * Approx. 22mm neck thickness (including fret height)
    * 43mm nut width (8.25mm spacing)

  5. Here's my EBS pedal that has not been used since I bought it a couple of months ago (Andertons). I've tested the pedal and, as you'd expect, it works perfectly and the range of tweaking options are super. So, brand new, in the box.

    Details:

    Features two channels and a useful loop. The MicroBass II can be used as an active direct box,a one or two channel preamp, instrument switcher or blender. The two channels provide sound shaping from high end solid-state types to distorted timbres, using the awarded tube emulation circuitry found in the EBS range of professional bass heads. An incorporated effects loop gives the user added flexibility for connecting to other effect pedals, or for mixing in an external audio source such as a CD player for rehearsal purposes.

    Unmatched Flexibility. The balanced output with speaker simulator option provides unmatched flexibility in live and studio situations. Footswitches control mute and channel operation/switching. Other features include headphone output, low battery indicator, link and master outputs, bass, ‘sweepable’ midrange, treble, bright and edge filters, drive and effects mix controls. The EBS MicroBass II delivers that big, burning EBS sound wherever you go.

    Funnily enough I sent a bass with UPS 18 months ago, sent them the dimensions with a couple of cm`s added on just in case then got an e mail after they delivered it ok to say that the package was larger than what I had said.

    They weren`t going to charge me extra on this occasion (how nice of them) but if it happened again in the future they would.

    Guess who hasn`t used them again? Not that they are bothered.

    Like you I added a couple of centimetres on and round the weight up but it was still under 10kg. For UPS to argue it weighed 30kgs is ludicrous. I have had further excuses all based on the 'audit' by UPS staff (drunk most likely). Fortunately I took pictures of the package and with the tape measure showing the dimensions - one pic showed the bass in the case. UPS now inform me that my case, along with pics, has been forwarded to their 'investigation' team. Why they didn't just say 'Whoops, we might have made a mistake' and notified me prior to thieving £75 out of my account, I don't know. I would have used Interparcel - and Painful - but Interparcel didn't recognise the address in Spain whereas UPS did.

    Did you use UPS direct or a courier reseller?

    I've noticed this when pricing up deliveries with UPS, their volumetric weight far, far exceeds the actual weight for bass parcels and the price jumps a lot if the wrong thing is entered.  I recall one of the discount courier people always getting that wrong, can't remember if it was Interparcel or Parcel2go or another one like it.  I haven't really noticed another courier work things out in quite the same way.  But the UPS website is incredibly manual from what I remember as well, I don't think anything is automated and I think it expects people to read the restrictions.

    But if you didn't enter anything wrong or choose the wrong product, they have no right taking anything from you for a website error.  Certainly not automatically!  Complain to the bank/credit card company that you have been charged for something that you have not authorised and request a chargeback.

    It was UPS direct. Never again.

  9. Just a word of caution if anyone is foolhardy enough to use this 'courier'. I sent a bass to Spain, took pictures of the package with dimensions. I entered the details correctly on the online form and paid the required price. The parcel was delivered - several days late even though I had paid for the priority service. I then find UPS have taken an additional £75 from my bank account. The first customer service advisor hadn't a clue why the amount had been taken and I then received an email saying someone would call the3 next day...two days later and no call. I rang again and was told the extra charge was because the item weighed 30kgs! I can't lift 30kg let alone pack it and then the UPS driver carry it under his arm to the truck. I informed UPS of their incorrect weight assessment. I was then informed the item exceeded 100cm in length...yes it did and the correct length entered onto the form. I have sent several similar sized parcels with UPS before and never had a problem. I informed UPS that I had entered the correct dimensions and they had charged me accordingly - I had sent them the pictures by this time. I then receive an email with a convoluted explanation of how they calculate cubic size and my parcel came into the 'large' category hence the additional charge. Their email then suggests that I had knowingly entered the incorrect dimensions and weight - or at best made a miscalculated guess. I await they fourth excuse after I referred them , again, to the pictures and also asked why the online form didn't recognise the dimensions as 'large', or were they still insisting I had entered the figures incorrectly. So, case raised with Resolver, emails to UPS CEO UK, emails to their Customer Service Team (there's a misnomer), and messages on their Facebook page. I strongly recommend that you use an alternative courier service. I have not had one response where the supposed Customer Service took an objective stance and said that there might be an issue on the side of UPS, oh no! it's me that is in error and UPS are determined to say they are in the right. So, please be warned.

  10. Here is my amazing Ritter Roya 4. Custom built for me and has only been used for a few gigs and studio sessions. Always sounds superb, very ergonomic, and a total delight to play.
    The spec is below and the only minor issue is that the switch for the bridge humbucker (to change between humbucker and single coil) broke. The pup is in humbucker mode, which I never change. You can still alter the pup using your fingernail.
    The bass comes in a hardshell case - mint condition - and with the manual.

    I'd prefer a straight sale but I am willing to consider trades for a similar high spec bass (4-5-or 6 string). Cash value is £2999 with a trade value of around £3250

    HD amp modelling: sound and feel like never before
    HD amp models defy the accepted standard. They feel, behave, and interact with previously unachievable realism.

    Creating these new HD amp models was no small feat. Line 6 mixed 15 years of amp modelling experience with 3 years of new research and development to build an entirely new amp modelling technology from the ground up. During that time, we hunted down 16 incredible amplifiers and”with the help of LA's top tube amp experts”restored each one back to peak condition. The new modelling technology uses 10 times more amplifier information than before, including single-ended class A tube stages, class AB push/pull interactions, power supply behaviour, and more. The result is a high-quality warmth, feel, sustain, and articulation for you to fall in love with.

    Tube amp fanatics have long enthused that their favourite stacks and combos aren't merely "amps," but instruments themselves, with playability equal to that of the guitar plugged into them. New HD modelling takes the POD HD experience to that same exalted level, capturing the genuine playability that great guitarists demand.

  14.

    It is a satin black finish on an Ash solid-body. The grain shows through the finish and looks lovely. It is a 34" scale, 45mm at the top nut, adjustable string spacing - currently at 19mm - and weighs 3.4kgs. It has two humbucker Pick-ups and a Piezo under the bridge.

    The Esh-Tronic controls are: master volume, Master Tone, Bridge pick-up/Parallel/Bridge and 80% Neck PU/Pick-ups in series. Control nearest the bridge is: Studio (pick-ups direct bypassing the pre-amp/Passive/Passive and Piezo/Active and Piezo.

    The combination of two humbuckers and a Piezo allows you so much variation and the option to bypass the preamp and go direct is a super idea.

    This is a German made bass and quite unusual to find this pick-up spec, Piezo and pre-amp configurations.

  15. WARNING!

    Do not use Parcel2go. They have charged my bank account for a service I never used. I have only used them once a month ago and vowed never to use them again because of their shoddy service. I now find they have charged my account for a service I never booked. Further, they have stored my card details illegally to enable them to make this charge. They have no contact details, no phone number, live chat or emails...I wonder why??? My bank cannot find any contact details for them and a search just reveals fraudulent phone numbers that charge you premium rate and no contact. I have tried to raise a case using 'resolver' but I'll wait and see what happens.

  16. Recently got this lovely bass in a trade. It is an amazing bass with a huge sound. This MPU Headless 5 is built by Finnish maestro, Marko Ursin. The overall quality of the build is superb.

    It has a hand wound 10-pole pick-up with adjustable poles. It also has a piezo at the bridge and is equipped with the ACG eq 02 preamp, plus a pickup blend/volume stacked knob.

    String spacing is 18mm at the bridge but it is adjustable either way. It accepts regular strings, as they are clamped with screws on the end of the neck by a string anchor. The width at the top nut is 46mm. The bass has a truss rod.

    Cosmetically the bass is near mint, except for a couple of very tiny dinks that are difficult to picture. The black hardware paint shows a little bit of wear too.

    It is a light bass (4 kilos) and balances really nicely, making playing a real pleasure.
