  1. Bit of a feeler at the moment,  I lusted after this bass for a while, and finally caved in and bought it. And though I still love everything about it, it’s quite a change from the Ibanez EHB I’ve been gigging. So thought I’d see what sort of interest or trades were around.

It’s wonderfully made and in immaculate condition, and has been upgraded with bartonlini pickups and a j tone preamp to give more flexibility. The B string is great as expected with these.

35 inch scale, 19mm string spacing and weighs in at a lightweight 4.1kg.

I’ve added the original ad, hope this is ok with bassed in bucks. His photos are much better!

  2. I’m up for possible trades on this, either a fretless or a precision ideally.

Ibanez EHB1005MS in Matt black. In great condition, believe it is 2021.

I love this bass for it ergonomics, and playability, only reason for sale is I have upgraded to the 1505 version.

There is a chip in the paintwork on the rear which happened in transit, but obviously cannot be seen when playing, and has not bothered me at all.

There also appears to be a slight split where the fretboard meets the neck at the body end, see photos. I took this to a local luthier for a set up when I got it, and pointed this out. He said it looks to have been glued and is nothing to worry about.

it has been set up with a really low action and virtually plays itself!

Comes with nice Ibanez gig bag.

  3. Ibanez EHB1005 in Matt black. In good condition, believe it is 2019.

I love this bass for it ergonomics, and playability, it has been my main gigging bass for the last couple of years. So I decided to buy the fan fretted version to try and am now confused as to which I prefer, so I’m putting them both up for sale to see which sells first!

I have installed a second strap pin nearer the jack, which in my opinion massively improves how the bass sits on the strap, not sure why Ibanez didn’t do this.

Unfortunately I managed to chip some of the paint off while doing it, and I have covered with black tape. It is not noticeable at all as the strap covers it, but it is there.

Comes with nice Ibanez gig bag.

    Collection preferred from Chelmsford

I had the pleasure of having a go on this bass recently and I have to say, it's absolutely fantastic!

Fabulous, authentic Jazz Bass tones, lovely neck and action, and it's got a killer low B on it! Oh, and it looks as cool as f*@k, too... 😁

All in all, it's a total bargain at this price...

    GLWTS 👍😊

Thank you Nik, I hope you are well

I’m selling another of my Dingwall basses. This bass is excellent, no marks that I’m aware of!

Sounds fantastic and plays great. Currently setup for G# (with a 170 gauge string on the low string so would go lower with ease). I think I still have have a few payson strings too.

It’s got the Darkglass tone capsule and is pretty versatile.

I used it to record my bands latest single (https://open.spotify.com/track/7JvwBL17LKHuBQKjHlNY9b?si=8b2K9591SFKL4REjf62MCg)

It was sold to me without a case, but I have one to put it in and have a box that it could be shipped in (and wrapped up insanely well!)

    Based in Aberdeen.

(Will update with more pictures!) 😊

  6. For sale is this beautiful jazz.

Usual story had a beer on a Friday evening, loved the colour and lakland basses in general so bought it! But realistically it’s not going to displace the Ibanez ehb for gigs.

it’s in good nick, think it’s 2014 so got some playing wear and a few little marks on the top of the headstock and a couple of little marks on the top of the next, but the body is very clean.

Lovely deep and punchy sound, strings could do with a change but I have been enjoying the dull thud they give the bass.

    Collection preferred from Chelmsford essex.

Only trades I could be interested in is a nice pj or a Dingwall plus cash from me.

Original ad below hope thats ok with bigmuff.

  7. I might not get away with that at some of the weddings we play! 😀

Thanks all for the comments, some good advice, mainly stating what I probably thought which is practise, practise practise until one becomes autopilot. I will need to ensure an empty house for the early attempts!

  8. Yeah I think that’s a good idea. It’s definitely the cross melodies that I struggle with, I’ve recently tried to learn a couple of songs on the keyboard to try to get my brain trained to focussing on a couple of melodies at once!

  9. I’m wondering how many of us bass lot manage to do backing vocals in bands. I play in a covers band and need to start doing some, but have had several attempts and usually ended in failure.

Does anyone have any techniques to make this easier?

Not if it is a 1005ms, as it appears to be, the 1005sms is the short scale and it comes in a darker green than this.

The strings on it are a cheap set that I bought for the show I played it in, that combined with my inexperience with headless basses just means the tunings pegs at the bottom might need some adjustments/tightening. My apologies I am still quite new with all the details of gear but yes I believe it is a short scale bass I measured the neck and it came to 32"

He did mentioned in an earlier post that it is a short scale, it would be a good idea to update this in the original sale thread to save any confusion.

Think I sold you this bass. It is a very lovely bass and plays and sounds great. I simply had to move a few basses on as was running out of storage.

Yeah it must have been you. I was contacted by dub junkie to let me know the history of the bass, I believe you bought it from him!

It is a wonderful bass, similar to you I need to clear some space!

  14. Putting my bongo up for sale or ideally trade. I wanted one for a while and love playing it but doesn’t really fit in with my current band.

It’s a great bass - light, very comfortable to play, and sounds great,  it’s got a monster high output! 3 band eq, weight is around 8.5lbs.

Its in great condition for the age, no real dings or scratches on it other than a bit of buckle rash on the neck plate on the back. Only thing to note is that the neck and body are a slightly different shade, the body slightly paler than the neck. It’s been like this since I’ve had it, can only assume they are different paints that have aged differently. This should be visible in the pictures.

Never had the original case with it but have got a semi hard gator case for it.

Im keen on trades for a Warwick, Ibanez ehb, or Dingwall 5 strings, but maybe 4s.

  15. I have severe gas itch for a musicman Sterling or bongo at the moment so I am offering up a beautiful lightweight Maruszczyk 5 string ideally as a trade. I am open to a 4 or 5 string version of either.

I have owned it for a couple of years and it is in great condition, with just a few marks on the bottom of the bass where it has been in its stand, there are a couple of small indents in the neck I have also tried to picture and a tiny mark near the bridge.

It has an alder body with resonance chambers, flamed maple top. Hard rock maple neck and dark katalox (I’d never heard of it) fingerboard. Delano SBC pickups and 3 band eq and mini switches. Monorail bridge with 18mm string spacing.

See the attached paperwork which details the specification and certificate.

Not really sure on the  pricing for this, but I traded it for a fender us deluxe jazz, and as I say I’m ideally looking for a trade for a musicman Sterling or bongo 4 or 5 or perhaps an Ibanez ehb or Dingwall.

    based near Chelmsford in Essex.

    any questions fire away!
