1. These are truly great basses. I've sold my 4 string Reflex HH last year and regretted it ever since. Fortunately I could replace it last April with a near minty 'eye popping' 25th anniversary H. 😎 Good luck with the sale
2. stunning instruments. Had a Fenix Jazz myself... GLWTS
3. Stunning bass and an even greater price tag...slim wengé neck and -I suppose- ovangkol body. GLWTS😜
4. After Amazon.uk 's cancellation, on April 15 I ordered from RareWaves (a 2nd party dealer on Amazon) . This Morning my GLBBB arrived packaged in -horror, horror - a thin plastic foil(!). But finally it's here. Bass porn Bonanza I noticed It's already the second print, but it is worth every cent. 15 GBP would have been a steal, but for 55 GBP I don't feel cheated. Still, Amazon deserves a couple of flames, if you ask me.
5. Also received this e mail from Amazon.uk . After three months they finally come to conclusion they are unable to deliver the goods, so a cancellation for dozens of loyal customers...Pff I could punch myself...Pre-ordered GLBBB first from Amazon.de early December, but after they failed to deliver the book on the estimated dates of delivery, (twice!) I switched to the much cheaper offer from Amazon.uk. Shouldn't have done that 😢 I still can not believe there won't be a reprint. I mean this book sold like hot biscuits
6. And we're halfway through February already and still no sign of Geddy's BBBB in stock at any of the Amazon branches. In the meanwhile I cancelled my order from Amazon.de and got to Amazon.Uk (because the hardcover was a lot cheaper :£15). But again, delivery guesstimates still vary from one to three months. Does anybody have a clue what's wrong with the copies destined for Amazon customers? I placed my initial order early in December, but obviously the publisher is not very concerned with Amazon...(or with us, for that matter 😢)
7. Oh Yeah Chris, lots of love...only I already have a Reflex HH 4 string. Hands down the most versatile bass in my humble collection. I know there's a general consent THE ideal bass doesn't exist, but this baby comes really close. Compact, extremely well made and a tone circuit that can cover practically everything from Motown, R&B, Rock to fusion. GLWTS
8.
I was contemplating buying this very bass when Neil had it up for sale (through Andy Baxter if I recall). Got in touch with Andy and it had just been sold. That'll teach me to dither! Ended up buying an HSS version with a maple board. Cracking bass! This is Musicman at their very best. The quality is very apparent on all Musicman basses but these are another level up IMHO. Whoever buys this won't be disappointed. Had mine up for sale a couple of times when I've been stretched financially as it's the only thing I own of any value. Happily I've always been able to withdraw it when the situation eased. GLWTS.
I bought the 'non anniversary' version named 'Reflex' seven months ago and it is nothing less then a revelation. If you dig the aesthetics, you'd be hard pushed to find a more versatile bass around. The quality of manufacturing, the ergonomics, the two HH pups,...it's hard to beat. GLWTS (love the fancy flamed maple top on your 25th anniversary BTW)
9. Always loved Curlees. The Curbeck was their De-Luxe flagship bass (together with the rare Summit). The 'standard 1' was the more popular S D Curlee bass in the seventies, but I always found the walnut/maple stripe body visually more striking/appealing. Very popular in Germany and Belgium in the mid to late seventies. Although the 32 1/2 inch neck is bolted onto the body it is technically also a neck trough, since the bridge is mounted in the neck. Rather unique, I would say. Birdsong revived the brand a while ago and is producing updates of these "poor man's Alembics. (The ashtray on this bass BTW is not original.) Good luck with the sale
10. Kramers most elegant model IMHO...I wouldn't mind a J pic-up near the bridge, but still as an 18 year adolescent I was craving for these puppies. Good luck with the sale!
11.
Hi Kev I believe that it's the latter but I'll have to check at the weekend as I'm away on holiday at the moment. If it's not the case, then I'll post a retraction.
Nope, that's an all maple neck. The model is SD Curlee's 'Curbeck' line ( and this has a latter day German carve finish) This was the flagship of the Curlee factory in the late seventies early eighties Good luck with the sale
12. Hi Luca I'm also a lucky owner of one of these first batch thumb Bolt ons. those in the know always claim the first thumb B.O's had a walnut body. But yours and mine definetly are not walnut. On the warwick forum some members were convinced that mine was afzelia One Luthier however endorses my idea that it is bubinga Good luck with the sale. I love my little thumb. It's the perfect companion to my fretless Wal MK1
13. That is a MK1 IMHO Very nice Looking Wal though...I prefer walnut facings over anything The unlined board, however extremely cool is also a bit intimidating Where are you located? And are you interested in a partial trade with a fretless Wal Pro? Cheers
14. Hi, Would love to learn about the year, wood specs, pick ups (MEC, Barts, erg,...) Cheers Eric
15. Hi Wayne Amazing. Just wondering 35", single cut...how is the neckdive? cheers
16. Highly recommended this particular Buzz. It used to be part of Wombatboters collection and I had the infinite pleasure of playing this immaculate beauty twice. Probably one of thé best fretlesses on earth
17.
Bought from wombatboter?
I played it Several times at Wombat's stately manor and was overwhelmed. Gorgeous sound and playability. I immediately looked for one too. Alas the Icepick blue buzz I scored sounded too clinical. This Campari orange buzz hoever is the real deal. If my Wal pro fretless died on me, I wouldn't hesitate a flick
18. Hi, I'm currently craving for a fretless Wal Mk1 and my trusted Wal pro I fretless has to go. Wal Pro basses were the first production basses from Electric Wood. Approximately 700 basses were produced from 1978 to 1980. The Bass in question was modded three years ago. According to the people at Wal, this instrument was a passive fretted ProI (cherry red) from 1978. One of of the previous owners had it defretted en stripped to natural. The plastic pickguard was replaced by a metal one. To suit my personal style I had the pup placed towards the bridge and in the meanwhile had it refinished to black (this job could have been done better!). The neck was reglued and this baby has low action and the humbucker produces a very high output. please don't hesitate to ask questions 1350€ is what I had in mind. Preferably collected in Ghent or Antwerp. Both MK1 were sold by the time I could react, so sorry to inform yyou I decided to keep it
19. an amazing bass, and a steal at this price..."You are a Tiger!. No ...Tony the Tiger" (Austin Powers)
