Slightly off topic but - you have an AJ Presentation & a Monarch, how cool. I've never seen an AJ in the flesh :)

HAve you posted pics of these anywhere here?
Hiya, I thought I had posted pics of the AJ here but a search didn't bring them up. Shoot me a pm if you want some pics of the AJ to drool over :) Cheers Nick

Some seriously nice basses there. Are you sure you have to let them go?
Not really a case of having to, just that they are sitting around unplayed at the moment and it would be nice to free up the space.
And of course the proceeds can then be reinvested.

3. Hi,

the string spacing is 18mm as indicated in the 648 model number. The model number breaks down as follows :-

The first digit indicates the number of strings.
The second digit indicates the scale length - 4=34 5=35
The third digit is the string spacing at the bridge, just add 10 to this number for the spacing figure.

Cheers

Nick

4. As some of you will have read in the dim distant past due to ongoing arthritis problems in my hands I'm all but giving up bass playing for other musical outlets. Hence I'm clearing out the instrument locker, well all except my Fodera Monarch and AJ Presentation, the following two basses are therefore up for sale :-

Wood & Tronics Zoid 5 str

Maple thru neck, Rosewood board, Alder body, Ziricote facings. 33" scale and currently strung EADGC but would equally well work strung more conventionally with some adjustment (nut etc;). East preamp with a gazillion knobs all described on the W&T website, Seymour Duncan pickups. Custom tailpiece and thru body stringing. This bass looks and sounds cracking has not been gigged, well to be honest has hardly been played. Could use a light fretstone to knock of some sharp edges apart from that it is top notch. Gig bag included. Price is £1750

STR LS648 6 str

Maple bolt on neck, Maple board, Ash body, Wenge top. 34" scale. Aguilar OBP3 pre , custom STR pickups. I really can't say enough about the quality and craftsmanship of these sadly underrated basses. Thunderous sound and very playable indeed. In excellent condition just one or two little marks none on the playing surfaces. Price is £850

I would prefer that these instruments were collected rather than shipped if at all possible.

Happy looking !

Cheers

Nick

5.
Ahhh Nick! Sorry to hear about your hand problems, but it's great to hear that you have found an alternative for channelling your music! Thank you also for posting pictures. I'd definitely like to hear more about the Harpejji - and see some videos if you do indeed post some. Have you found it easy to adapt to the Harpejji's layout and are you finding playing with both hands a challenge at all?

Dooooooooood
Thanks for the kind thoughts, Dood much appreciated. It was accidental coming across Tim and Harpejji through a Tap style forum. Once I saw the concept it just made sense to me
and looked to address a lot of the issues I was/am having with my hands. It responds well to a light touch and under the un-stretched span of a hand there is enormous range available.
Once you get your head around the whole tone between each string it's surprisingly easy to navigate, especially with Marcodi's marking system. The two handed side of things I'd been
doing with my basses although not the extent available on the Harpejji and as a bass player it's quite liberating to play bass lines with two hands on the Harpejji. All the usual bends and slurs are still available on the instrument too so I think most bassists and guitarists would find the feel very familiar. I run mine through a MacBook with Logic installed and so can make use of all the various effects in the software too. Plus being stereo you can tailor the bass and melody sides differently to taste. My purchase was very much a desperate shot in the dark, albeit aided by my experiences with the Warr, but I don't regret it at all. If you have any questions I'll try and put some more detail to them.

6. Don't get around here much these days since giving up the bass due to some arthritis based hand issues. I came across a link to this
thread on Marcodi's Facebook page and thought I pop along and contribute. Years ago I strapped on Warr guitar as I always liked the
concept of playing bass and melody simultaneously and at the time the Warr seemed the logical way for a bass player to do this with
a proper extended range. One thing led to another and it didn't quite work out for me as I'd hoped but the tapping style of playing still
really appealed to me. Moving along a couple of years and my hand problems really hit hard and I had to start thinking about life without
playing bass guitars (I still have a few in the cupboard :)) but really didn't want to give up on music making altogether. It was at this point
that I started talking to Tim at Marcodi and he was very helpful in explaining the concepts and the reality of the Harpejji, a few months later
and .........

It is a beautiful instrument to play and opens up worlds of possibilities whilst still giving me that string fix, I alternate between the Harpejji and
the Eigenharp these days. When I confident I'll post up some videos.

BTW I have no other connection with Marcodi apart from being a satisfied customer. I'm just pleased to see them get a little more exposure.

7. Hi everyone,

Firstly thank you to everyone who has responded here and by PM.

I have a situation where two combinations of two people would enable me to sell the
whole rig at the same time. I have PM'ed all those concerned and await any replies.

To be fair I will decide on the first pair to agree to a deal. I hope everyone concerned is happy with
that idea.

I also wanted to point out that collection from me would be preferred.

Thanks guys.

8.
very interested in the millennia pre... Can you be persuaded to sell that seperately?
PM me or message here if you want! Here's hoping!

All the best. Andy

PS where are you based?
Hi Andy

Well I'm really keen to try and sell the whole rig, mainly to cover the new project.
Let me have a little think about the Millennia and come back to you. I'm based in
Camberley, Surrey.

Cheers

Nick

9. Hi everyone,

I'm in the process now of moving away from bass playing due to the onset of arthritis in the old fingers.
I'm heading for pastures new along the electronic/touch style road. I'm keeping some of my more precious
instruments but the rig is now superfluous to my needs.

OK the rig consists of :-

Millennia TD-1 preamp
Bergantino IP112 w/cover
Bergantino EX112

Both the cabs are pre ER range and have never been gigged so are in A1 condition.

I would really like to sell the whole rig together, it just makes sense that way. But I might be talked
into letting the preamp and IP112 go as a unit.

I'll include the XLR cables and Speakon connector cables.

I'm looking for ₤2000 ovno for the rig as a whole. This is around 2/3rds list price for new gear.
Thanks for looking.

Cheers

Nick

10. Shocking and sad news, I only met Si once when a few of us got together when Enrico visited from W&T.

He was the kind of guy you just liked from the word go, very warm and big hearted.

Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

RIP Simon

11. It's time to thin the crop and head in new directions, so up for sale two lovely basses.

First up my STR LS648

34" scale
6 string
Maple neck
Ash body
Wenge top
STR pickups
Aguilar OBP3 preamp

In lovely nick, just some light marks behind the bridge where the string ball ends have knocked
during restrings. This bass plays beautifully, nice low action and all this without any fret work since
new. It sounds powerful and punchy. Didn't come with any case but does include the original tools.

Second up my F Bass BN6

34.5" scale
6 string
Maple neck
Ash body with black ceruse finish.
F Bass pickups
F Bass preamp.

In very good nick too, a couple of marks near the control cavity. I think one caused by some heat, the finish is thin and
delicate, when the passive tone pot had to be replaced. It stuck from new so George F sent a new one. No marks or dings
on any playing surface. Comes with F Bass gig bag and all original tools.

Prices as follows :-

STR LS648 - 1200 GBP
F Bass BN6 - 1800 GBP

Collection much preferred but if shipped will be extra at cost and will be insured. UK only please. :)

More sales impending

12.
Nice rig Nick - I really want to try a TD-1 with my IP112 rig. Where did you get yours from? I remember The Gallery used to offer than for £999, but the lowest price I can find anywhere is £1500 at Thomann.
Hi Joe and thanks

I got mine direct from the UK disributor, at the time I don't think Martin was stocking them.
I tried to find the receipt to confirm but I couldn't !! I think at the time the company was HHB.

http://www.hhb.co.uk/hhb/uk/products/detail.asp?ID=785

I do recall speaking to a charming lady and haggled a good price too. :)

13.
whoaaa.....thats a lovely (presentation?) bass there! whats she like to play? im assuming it has the same features as AJ's? (36" scale, 28 frets)
It is 36" and has 28 frets.

It's surprisingly easy to play with a little adjustment. I wouldn't want to try playing it standing up on a strap but then it wasn't designed
to be played that way. It sounds really lovely too.

14. I have 2 right now, this one -

and a Monarch 4 string.

They are great basses and when I bought mine weren't quite so hideously priced.

Having said that there are other marques I like as much. Certainly the W&T basses are really getting close to
the same ball park as the Foderas, in fact they are probably up there right now. On the more traditional area
I feel the Alleva Coppolo basses have that kind of quality too.

15. I had this happen to me.

It turned out to be a tag on the jack socket being in contact with the screening of the
electronic cavity. Hence the circuit was always switched on even with the jack
plug removed. I traced it with a diagram of the wiring and a multimeter. One
little bend of one of the jack socket tags and the problem was solved.

16.
Hi Phil
I can understand the LPB love :) If it's a keeper take it to Martin Simms, between Tenterdon and Ashford in East Sussex/Kent. It'll cost a bob or two but the work will be outstanding, which, if you want LPB and not a poor impression, you're probably gonna need.
Chris
PS please don't ask, I don't have a car at the moment, possibly Friday!
I would echo the Martin Sims recommendation. I've had him do a couple of things in the past, including a complete refinish.
Excellent results and service on each occasion. He used to, not sure if he still does, offer a very reasonable pick up and return service too.
