    45-105 or 40-100 ?

     

    I've always played 45-105's but I was thinking of trying 40-100's, is there that much of a distinguishable difference between the two gauges?

      I own 3 Precisions. One has 40-100s fitted and the other two have 45-105's.

       

      There's no change in sound between the basses but the lighter gauge strings are easier to play.

    One of my students has an awesome sounding Jazz bass. I don't actually own a Jazz bass. Now I need a Jazz bass.

      I've bought a couple of basses via Basschat and had previous owners track me down and ask for me to sell their old bass back to them.

      I saw him playing with Andy Fairweather Low, a few years ago. They were supporting Robert Cray.

       

      He just brought a little Markbass amp on stage with him. No huge 8x10 for Dave.

    Maybe time to book an appointment with the dentist. The repair he did on my broken tooth (he drilled out the filling and put in a new one, that was it) has failed miserably from day one...and that was about 2 months ago I have a huge hole in my tooth and tooth ache every day, for the last 6 weeks. But I hate dentists...

      I had a friend who went on tour with a singer who had a fear of dentists. He got severe toothache halfway through the tour and because he couldn't bare a visit to the dentist, asked my friend to pull out his tooth with a set of pliers.

       

      Which he did.

       

      Do you have any friends who are handy with a set of pliers?

    So I got myself a new band!

      In my long term band, the guitarist's wife (who sings) took a hissy fit and left the band. As we had pre booked gigs myself, the guitarist and the drummer create a new band, called The Big Boss Band, that played mostly Ska. At the gigs people loved us and we went down like a house on fire.

      Unfortunately, after a few months sitting in alone watching Sat night TV at the weekend, the guitarist's wife decided she wanted to join the band again. That was the end of The Big Boss Band - no more Ska for us  :(

      Enjoy yourself......it's later than you think :)

      People don't have a reason to buy a new bass, if it's exactly the same as their old bass. Fender has realised this and have started to create new models, much more frequently, than they did in the past. Then when a new model of bass or guitar comes out, you have an excuse to splash the cash. So you'd better grab that Ultra..... fast , because the The Fender Ultra Mega Elite Deluxe Jazz Bass  is in the pipeline 😀

      I had a windfall a year ago, bought some lovely basses, haven't had a gig since early March and I just sit there looking at them and feeling miserable. 

      So the answer is no.
