There are two things I can tell you about rotator cuff tendonitis.
1. It hurts.
2. It really, really hurts.

Thanks chaps. I haven't found the exercises to be of any benefit either, and I've taken NSAIDs till I rattle to no effect. Physio is next but I don't hold out much hope. Luckily(?) it's my right shoulder, so I can wear a bass ok and playing seems to be not too bad... we shall see. It's the pain at night that's really driving me up the wall. Keeping me awake and there seems to be no position I can rest in that eases it at all. It's got to the stage where I really dread going to bed.

Really feel for you mate, it was the sleeping (or lack of it!) that got me. I found if I propped my neck/shoulder up a bit instead of lying flat it helped a bit but not enough to give me a good night's sleep. Have you got private medical insurance, I know if you haven't it's nearly impossible to get anything done at the minute?

Physio helped mine but only after I’d had a couple of steroid injections into the shoulder joint itself, it freed up the movement really well. I still have a problem now (dislocated mine 3 times so all sorts of probs there) but it’s manageable, just have to be aware not so much what I’m able to do but what the limits of my injury are (as I can lift & move much heavier items than is safe for me).
