  1. Going to check out a pretty amazing bass for a pretty amazing price next Monday...wish me luck.

  2. Got a Squier Bullet from '87 to restore. A good clean, new strings, setup... Can't wait to start on it.

@arthurhenry & @BassAgent - I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the quality of these MIK Fenders :)

    3. BassAgent

      BassAgent

It's finished! It's quite nice. The neck feels quite wide, more or less like early 60's Precisions. Otherwise it just sounds like a decent Precision. I like it.

@Marc S I had mine from '88 - '90, but got the chance to play it again very briefly and unplugged, a few years ago. I was impressed enough to think about trying to get it back (it now belongs to a local school).

  3. Spoke to FedEx on the phone. They asked me if it would be a possibility that Dingwall sends me a replacement body. They actually asked it.

No response from FedEx yet. They have 2 days until the body is officially lost. By FedEx. And they have to buy a new one.

  4. I have a gig tomorrow. One of the songs we're playing is I Can't Make You Love Me. Question is: do I bring a fretless just for that 1 song (out of over 20)?

Of course, but I did figure out a way to add fretless on 3 other songs.

  5. Made an appointment for my second tattoo. I'm already nervous but also can't wait.

This is the guitarist in my band. About 3 years ago he went and got a tiny tattoo on his arm. Look at him now, he's obsessed!

The only tattoo I'd have is one in Ink and Braille that says "Get your filthy hands off of my dirty ar5e ya perve!".  I'd have one on each buttock for full protection from drunken females.

(I got groped once by ladies outside a club once when bending over to take my 'bike lock off.  They were pi55ed as newts and it was a real passion killer.  One of the hazards of wearing full leathers that I don't miss.)

  6. Well, thanks UPS. They shipped my new bass from Tamworth to Amsterdam (where I live). And then to Stanford. And then to Amsterdam. And then to Stanford. And now it's on its way to Amsterdam for the third time in two days. Great.

I grew up in Coventry in the 70s and 80's surrounded literaly by 2Tone/Ska. Loved listening to it but never learned any as I drifted into classic rock, metal and punk. Then one day a few months ago I had a mad fit and decided to learn some Specials basslines (Gangsters/Too Much Too Young/A Message to you Rudy). Best fun Ive had on a four string ever.

Thanks Rich! I've been playing ska for about 15 years now so this is just a *new* ska band for me, not the first :)

  12. Was scammed yesterday; I've been looking for a Danelectro 59 single cut for a while now. Got a message from someone who sold one, living 2 hours away, for a decent price. So I got in my car, drove for over 2 hours (darn traffic) and the person nor the bass existed.

That's seemingly common in the USA. Usually with poor pizza delivery guys. They get their float and bike nicked. Seen it happed with Craigslist deals.

      BassAgent

Well it's a common trick to make sure people are not at home so they can burgle the house, but they didn't know my address and my apartment building is a fortress... Plus it was 300 euros, and the address I was sent to wasn't exactly in the middle of nowhere either.

No, unfortunately. FedEx called me last Monday and they've also contacted Dingwall for a description of the package. No updates yet.

  15. I have no space left on my wall to put another bass. But there is another one coming. I can't put another guitar hanger on there. I'm not selling anything. This is something.

@Nibody The synth is a synth :) I use a Moog Sub Phatty live, I believe this is a vintage Juno.

There are good couriers: I have never experienced problems with GLS and UPS (although I know many have had issues with UPS). I do know I'm never using DHL again.

To be fair to FedEx: they did the shipping of the actual Dingwall bass flawlessly.

  21. It has been delivered! Box looks like this however. Body is flawless! Lovely.
