  1. I don't think there has ever been a 'bad' SR. I've played various models over the years but owned a an SR605, an SRX705 and an SR1200e. They're all quite different but have sounded great, been super versatile and played incredibly well.

I wouldn't worry too much about age but you'll definitely get more for your money second hand.

    Hope that helps.

  2. I'd be really interested to play this.

The pickups are a pair of fishman fluence back to back, looks like the 2 band preamp and switch for the 3 voices.

Also, it's hard to tell from the photo but I wonder what the scale length is. Sleep token use some really low tunings so I wouldn't be surprised if it was 35" or longer.

I commissioned a custom VM5 build which I received just over 5 years ago, and was very keen to try the Black Labels!

Ironically, I absolutely hated them! 🤣 Sold the bass pretty much immediately after waiting a year for it (seems very rash on retrospect 😅😬🤦).

I felt like they were REALLY aggressive but seemed to lack any actual 'tone'. It's really what led me towards ordering my TT5 passive, with their Alnico V pickups instead. Much more organic and toneful for my ears.

But this is why we have choice, because everyone likes something different! It also highlights why you need to TRY things yourself to form an opinion. No amount of people telling you what they like will replace that 😅

Wow I can't imagine what they'd be like with a pre, mine are in a passive bass.

They're definitely aggressive, but the basses main purpose is distorted tones in a thrashy hardcore so it works.  The bass does the Frank Bello thing very nicely.

Those lower horns are a swing and a miss aren’t they. Also goes to show that not everyone can design a decent looking single-cut.

G-series could be interesting though, Godin vibes probably.

    Si

If Jeremy Beadle were a bass.

The ABM 600 and your BF Supertwin are a match made in tonal heaven!

I'm discovering that already. I spent a few hours playing at low volume yesterday evening and was amazed at how easy it was to coax basically any sound out of it with the EQ engaged and how sensitive it is to playing style. I'm super impressed.

  6. I've been finding that my Markbass LMIII doesn't like the relatively high gain sounds that I'm throwing at it now that I've found myself in a Hardcore punk band. From what I can gather I've been overloading the preamp which causes it to cut out.

Anyway, this ABM 600 Evo iv came up locally on market place, a few messages later a price was agreed and the seller even offered to deliver it as he was passing anyway. It's in basically perfect condition and seems to have only been lightly used.

I've only tested it at home so far, I've got to say I'm super impressed by what I've heard at low volumes, but the real test will come in the new year.
