  1. I like it! (as long as it plays OK)
  2. I prefer the green. But only just.
  3. Hmm age restricted, I'm a bit scared to click on that LOL
  4. https://amp.theguardian.com/science/2022/nov/07/bass-instinct-low-notes-really-do-get-people-dancing-research-finds
  5. Yes I have had Music Unlimited for a while now, since before I started learning Bass. I started with Prime, but two reasons for upgrading: - got fed up with some albums I enjoyed disappearing from the Prime service - wanted high definition audio for use with my Sonos system Now after the recent changes, the Prime service sounds like it works in a similar way to Spotify?
  6. I find that the only way I can stay motivated to "practice" often is just to play through songs I know and enjoy playing. I have a variety of songs on an Amazon Music playlist that I add to whenever I learn something new. I will often only play for around 10 minutes, but sometimes I end up doing this several times a day whenever I get bored of what I am supposed to be doing! It seems to be working as I see an improvement when I go back to songs I haven't played for a while. Equipment wise, I generally play through my Ashdown Studio 12 combo, with headphones if necessary but without if no-one else is in the house! That way I can use my pedals and the overdrive in the amp. If I need to go to a different room, I use my Amplug headphone amp instead.
  7. A Fender without a pickguard. Gorgeous ❤. Of course you should do as you wish, but in my opinion breaking it up would be a sad thing indeed.
  8. I was hoping to come but turns out I'm not free 🙁. I second the request to record the talk, sounds really interesting. I'll be listening out for @Kingbassist on Thursday next week as we are off to see Hamilton 😊
  9. I have used this site several times when I needed backing tracks for my daughter's singing exams. I can recommend it. Also allows you to transpose up and down. And you can make unlimited changes after purchase and download a new MP3 afterwards. Depends if they have the kind of music you are looking for of course.
  10. Mononeon does this too. Both have worked with Prince at some time in the past - coincidence or not? According to Mononeon it makes it easier to do bends on the high string.
  11. I did wonder if wierd-donkey was a special kind of pickguard that I hadn't heard of 😄
  12. Here's my Washburn XB-100. I've had it for about 25 years. Played it on and off at University, then didn't pick it up again until lockdown. Been in my hands most days ever since.
  13. I present the only version of "Sound of Silence" you will ever need.
  14. There has to be a way of filling those and colouring them to match? I'm sure someone on this forum can advise.
  15. I can understand that, interesting perspective. I guess I just prefer the simpler look of it without a pickguard. I'm also wondering if the pickguard has much of a function on a bass?
  16. I find myself drawn to basses without pickguards. Not sure why, I just prefer the look. Anyone else feel the same? What's the disadvantage with a lack of pickguard?
  17. I love it! The bare wood looks gorgeous. The wooden pickup covers are a nice touch.
  18. How is the Nux for picking up noise? I have a Blackstar Amplug (similar to the Vox) and I really like it, the only negative is that it picks up noise from my phone.
  19. What's the background to the IV on the cover? I see they used a big deal of it in the advert above, was wondering what it means?
  20. Wow almost missed this in the thread. Amazing stuff. Quite an interesting tone on that guitar, thought it was a bass at first...
  21. This just popped up on Radio 6Music, what a tune
  22. I'm a bit late to this thread. I just gave Rattus Norvegicus a listen. What an incredible album! I had no idea... Definitely prog punk IMHO. Thanks @Beedster 😊
