Is that green or charcoal grey, Si? It's very nice whichever.

So essentially a passive J configuration on the MM- inspired body shape, by the looks of it. What pickups have you gone with? I'm a big fan of Lakland's own pickups myself. I think they're very underrated.

It’s Sherwood Green Metallic, but can see where you’re seeing the Charcoal vibe.
Yes it’s a US Custom Dual J, so a passive J setup with their 44-94 body and neck. This one is chambered for weight-saving, and also has a Series/Parallel switch. And yes, their own pickups as I agree, they’re great.

It’s very similar to my US Custom 44-PJ which is elsewhere in this thread.

  2. My pedal riser board currently:

Schu-Tone Ramparts (Green Muffin w/mids) -> Mooer Envelope -> MXR Vintage Octave -> TC Corona Chorus -> TC PolyTune Mini 3

There’s room for another 1590a sized something above the two TC pedals, so I think that might have to be an MXR or Mooer micro power, as it’s all running on a daisychain at the mo, which I suspect the two digital pedals will eventually not agree with if I gig this setup.

… slapped this together for fretted duties this morning at church, going for the classic 1176 into LA2A vibe with a bit of channel strip chucked in (and some goodness from the Sfx unit 👍🏻

I do normally make things a bit neater, but it still worked 🤣🤣

    What’s the SFX Micro Energiser?

  4. I’m not aware that MXR/Dunlop own their own production facilities, although even if they do, it’s not really likely that a company would dime their capabilities in order to fulfill backorders, they’ll ramp up production slowly so they can find a sweet-spot between supply and demand. You don’t want more stock than you need, especially on a niche product, because stopping and then starting (again) production is not a simple task.

  5. Yeah DemonFX are pretty well-known for their borderline counterfeiting of well-known pedals.

I wouldn’t touch them with a barge-pole, who knows what’s going on under the hood. Some people seems happy with them, but I’ve heard reports of noisy pedals and all sorts of crap-outs you’d expect of such things.

    YMMV.

I didn't take it any further - it didn't feel like a risk I wanted to take with my basses.

However, their website tells me that the company has gone from three reviews, to over 17,000 reviews,  in 6 months.  That's equivalent to around 3,000 reviews per month or 100 per day, every day of the week.

So, for all the healthy cynicism displayed by basschatters, 4 people an hour (throughout the day and night) are happy enough with the service to leave a positive review.

Does that amount of shopping traffic sound plausible for a business that is less than two years old?

Yeah I saw those numbers and it felt like a lot….thanks for doing the maths to make it feel even less likely haha

Yeah, there is that added issue with keys being a new instrument to play. Luckily I have some basic piano skills from a couple of years playing as a kid and occasional noodling about on the piano as an adult, and generally the synth basslines that I want to play are pretty basic (in fact, most of the bast synth basslines seem quite basic e.g. the ones mentioned above 'Thriller' and 'I just can't get enough').  There is also some demand in the band for offbeat chord stabs in our Reggae tunes which is partly encouraging me to get an MPC Key 37 (for those organ and piano sounds as well as synth bass). I'm a bit cautious about going too far down that route though as it means handing over Bass duties to another bandmate for those songs and I do still find bass guitar the most fun instrument to play (especially for Reggae), I wouldn't want to turn into a keyboard player!

Split your midi keyboard sounds, bass with your left hand, piano stabs with your right. Easy….right?! 😅

Looks / sounds great, thanks Si! What sort of tracks do you think you'll be using this on live?

    Heya,

I’ll primarily be using it for pop/synth type stuff, primarily coupled with Chorus and sometimes octave.
On the odd occasion I use fuzz on its own, again, it’s more for a pop-type ‘produced’ sound….not doomy metal type Muff fuzz.

  9. Some of you will have seen that CMC Audio have today released their new Fuzz pedal, which integrates an envelope filter into the sound.

I’ve had it for a little while now as I happened to get chatting to Christoph about fuzz pedals around the time this was around 90% developed.

FWIW, I paid for mine, so this is not a marketing spin, I just wanted to start the conversation around it as I believe it deserves all the exposure it can get!

I made a very quick video for Instagram this lunchtime haha, with a single tone:

And I know Si Francis and a few others also put out vids, which I (or someone else) can post below.

    Cheers

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but seems better than starting again - I have a 3 Leaf You're Doom, and I have the option to trade it for a Doom 2, but it'll cost me around £150 to swap. Is it worth it, I'm really happy with the You're Doom, it is really simple to dial in between songs for live use and it never sounds bad. I do like the eq option on the Doom 2 though, seems like it will be even more versatile, but will it be as usable live?
Anyone who has tried both, is it worth £150 to "upgrade", or should I just be happy with what I have?

As someone who’s been there and done that (albeit not with a 3Leaf), if you’re really happy with your Doom, and not wanting for anything ‘more’….just stay as you are. Grass isn’t greener, I promise lol.
