  1. Onstage 8.30 in Bristol (BS3) at the Hen & Chicken playing some 80s Goth revival, on the million to one chance anyone fancies it?!

  2. Tues eve at 8pm Swindon  105.5FM & I am part of a 1hr special, talking & playing songs with my duo.

  3. Just been made a Basschat Grand Master. I assume this means I get keys to the executive Basschat loo and my own personal parking space? No one need salute, happy to keep it informal.

You do get the keys to the loo but Frank's just been in there so I'd give it ten minutes if I were you 👍

As a fellow Grand Master I have continued to lose large sums of money in the For Sale section, while posting pictures of my sausage dogs in Off Topic. As Geddy sang, Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose

I think it just means it's harder to find somebody to play Chess against.

  4. D'Addario strings have clarified on Twitter that it is pronounced Duh-Dairy-Oh. Who knew?!

I think all mid apostrophes should be banned unless they are an accepted contraction.  Vulcan names will be exempt of course.

It's 41 years ago, that I played my first live gig, at my school's 'Rock Nite'.

I remember it because it was the day of John Lennon's death.

  12. Twenty years TODAY since my last ever cigarette. A real milestone. The 90s always saw me onstage with a cigarette, smoking in the studio or in rehearsal. 100% willpower and positive mental attitude.

Congrats - it's 6 years since I quit alcohol completely. Still do the fags I'm afraid. We survived the 80s and 90s but personally I don't understand how. I mean Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Ginger Baker etc etc... how???

  13. Tonight (Fri) - Beehive, Swindon 9pm, tomorrow (Sat) Winscombe RFC nr Bristol from 7pm and Sunday Camden Rocks at 8pm. Neat little weekend live schedule. :hi:

      Skinner

Good move, wireless quality is great these days and it's nice to have a 'wander' at sound check time to get a feel for the acoustics of a venue. The guitarist and I often use them for rehearsals as well - we use a garage, so in summer we are free to move outside- nice.

    3. Lozz196

      Lozz196

I`m not an all-over the stage performer but it`s so nice being wireless and not having cables getting caught up around your feet. Plus when packing up you don`t get some twunt standing on your cables.

    4. Kev

      Kev

Every time I watch something go wrong on stage lately, it seems to be wireless related.  It's a worry I can do without.  I'v never pulled a cable out in my life and lets just say I'm far from stationary on stage!

  15. In 1 week, be it rehearsal, studio or gig, I've done *something* with each one of my five bands! I think I need an early night now!

  16. 9 years cancer free today! Rock on!

  18. Long Road Festival today, opening main stage HRH CROWS tomorrow & then playing the Running Horse in Notts Sat night too. Come and say hi if anyone's seeing Case Hardin over the next 2 days.

  19. 41yrs today since Elvis died. I recall the 4yr old me being told the significance by my dear old Mum.

I had a Saturday job in Wilko in Rotherham, and a woman came in with Elvis playing at maximum volume on a mono cassette player. She wouldn't turn it down so she got chucked out.

    3. EssentialTension

      EssentialTension

If I recall correctly, Elvis died on the Tuesday and at our gig on the Wednesday at the Barrel Organ in Birmingham we played 'Money Honey' from the Elvis Presley album and the 1954 single release 'Milk Cow Blues Boogie'.

    4. Lozz196

      Lozz196

I was on holiday when Elvis died, I remember my Mum crying and wondering what all the fuss was about. But even though I got into punk, like Marc S I realised just how ground-breaking Elvis truly was, and how important he is to much of the music we listen to today.

Eastwood are good guys. We went up to the open day at Sound City and they've lent us a bunch of kit for the summer, so I've got a Map Bass on the way and our guitarist got an Airline 59 and one of the Rivoltas. Think they put a few of us up on there too. How's the balance on V? I thought about asking for one but I'd look like a tit because it's nearly as big as me...

@borntohang there is neck dive but this would be a quick fix moving the strap button. Eastwood have always impressed me too.

  23. Just had my 1st unrequested slap bass demo in at least 20yrs, when asking to try a bass in Dawsons. For the record, I've not missed those!

    3. Hellzero

      Hellzero

@discreet Sadly good sellers, you know those asking questions, are quite rare and have always been. We only get those label readers talking only for themselves and they seem to ignore the fact that they are simply useless. The worst of all being certainly the car (re)sellers : they never ask you a single question and talk about things we don't give a s**t. It takes only 5 seconds to know if the seller is a good one or another arrows shooter.

    4. Cat Burrito

      Cat Burrito

@Happy Jack I need to see how things lie at home first but a good salesman could have seen me buy it and worry about the former later on.

  24. Happy World Down Syndrome Day 2018! Especially those of us rocking lots of socks!

  25. Not only are D'addario makers of my favourite string but they win extra kudos from me for having environmentally responsible packaging. These things are important to me.

Until their staff have all signed off on a commitment to never use wet wipes as a substitute for toilet paper again, I'm not convinced that they are truly serious about protecting the environment.
