3. Has anyone had a chance to compare the two MXR bass preamp pedals by any chance?

The MXR M81 and the MXR M80.

I've owned and used the MXR M80 and I know it has a D.I. output, but what are the other main differences between these two?

That would be SF-2 ;-)

You could get a used set of Alembic electronics and install them in a pedal, best to go to the Alembic club and ask the question there: http://alembic.com/c...club/discus.cgi
Since Alembic is a custom shop, they might be able to build you one. (but it will have a hefty price tag)

Thanks for that, and yeah SF-2 is the rack unit I was thinking of. Must be something out there I can try in pedal format first though, if anyone know of something?

I'll also take a look over at the Alembic forums to see what they say ;)

Maybe a John East filter or an ACG filter in a Boss size pedal would give me what I'm looking for?

UPDATE:
Just found this:-

5. A bit of a long shot, but does anyone know of a pedal that would give me the filters and 'Q' similar to the Alembic on board filters? I'm aware of the Alembic FZ-1 19" rack unit, but is there a pedal?

Or does anyone know if the filters on the Stanley Clarke wah pedal would provide something similar?

Any help that would narrow down my search would be very much appreciated.
