1. Methinks IMHO it depends on your band set up an style of music,,,,, I played in a band for years which did small to medium venues, the Bass DI,d through the PA,,, and a pretty sensible drummer... I mainly put an SWR redhead on the floor (2x10) and rarely had it turned up above 3,,, I personally was chuffed to f*** and recieved many many compliments. If ya play with animals tho........ as an onstage monitor and great DI for the pa its a great set up..
2. Just learned a load of american 80,s tunes and had a similair experiance of being slightly out,,, Someone just mentioned that the variances in electrical supply used can effect this,, eg the americans use differant voltages etc,,,,, totally believe this is rubbish,,,, but errrrr,,, is it possible?
3. Current band van is a sprinter,, no way is the gear goin in an Alfa... But my all time fave was Helga,,, an old merc van,, she even had her own myspace an fan club....
4. Hiya,,,, Elixers came as standard on my Ibanez SRX705,,, thought they sounded great myself.. And yeah they did last a lot of gigs,,, however the strings do start shedding (like a snake) eventually.. I believe I heard somewhere they just buy strings in an them coat them...but I would certainly consider them again.
5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbS226u_f4Q Check Nathan Williams,,,, £200 Cort Bass a loop an no effects... Blew me away at the London Guitar Show... Cant seem to find a dealer tho!
6. Re earlier comment,,,totally agree about the old Warwick Streamer Std.. great tone, coil tap, made from solid materials,, mine has paid for itself so many times, Im never gonna sell that bass.. Even though I now have some nice gear,, most of it never comes home and I only ever see them at gigs an rehearsals... Its still my old Streamer, which I learn stuff on an play at home...
7. ah!!!!!!!! that tatty looking beast,,, in a temp housing.. is an all tube 500 watt monster prototype made by the man himself John Chambers of the Vintage Tube Hospital in Nottingham,,,, loved the SWR till someone tried to wind the knobs off it at a jamming session and it never sounded the same again,,, will post pics of the new rig,,, now im getting the hang of the forum.
8. Sent PM,,,,,,,if someone knows this guy please ask him to log on an read it,, cheers...
