3. Well I'm back in Worcestershire home of the Selmar and have replaced the old valves with a pair of Electro Harmonix EL34's and this beast is alive again I have it hooked up to an old 8ohm B&O hi-fi speaker for testing purposes so can't give it a good test yet but it sounds ok. it's a bit smelly but I expect that's 30 years of dust burning off, next time I'm up here I'll bring a proper cab and my old Squier guitar and give it a good work out with a bass and a 6 string. Thanks to everyone who gave help an advice, I'll report back once it's been used a bit. R.
Well, here's a good start to the quest; Warmoth bass neck pockets Looks like the 'later' models are a different size to the earlier 'deluxe' ones. No mention of Squier or any of the other cheaper variants.
It also says that the earlier ones have the truss rod adjustment at the top of the neck so identifying an early from a late one shouldn't be hard. It would be handy if someone could tell us the pocket size of a Squier 5 string.

9. Do any of you cleaver folk know if the neck pocket and screw position on all Fender P and J 5 string basses are the same? on 4 strings you can put just about any neck on any body be it MIA MIJ MIM Squier Tokai does that apply to 5's? Slightly easier one, what's the string spacing at the bridge on a Fender 5? Cheers R.
10. If they did have the same pocket size like the 4 stringers do that could open up a chance for some fun! not sure how you find out though.
11. Hmmm.... I like the idea of a 35" scale 5 string neck with a Lakland style 3+2 tuner configuration to try out on Fender and Squier bodies. I wonder what sort of costs are involved in getting a one off made? R.

13.
Hi Rumple, If you order it from Amazon you'll never get it! This book is only available from Bassline Publishing. Amazon lists any book with a barcode, and will claim they can get it for you. Every week they put in an order for about 8 of these books. I always deny the order, because they pay so little to independent publishers. In the case of this book and the first Level 42 book that I wrote, I would be selling them at a loss if I sold them to Amazon. Incidentally, the book is currently out of stock, but I am arranging the reprint as we speak. If there is anyone here who has ordered and not received a copy please let me know. Stuart
Hi Stuart, How bad is that of Amazon! I'll be sure to order it directly from you when it's back in stock, I think I only ordered it from Amazon because i was ordering a few other books as Christmas gifts at the time. All The Best Dave
14. Sold Etienne my Jazz Bass body, he's a joy to deal with. Many Thanks R.
15. Some nice designs, I like the bass clef ones. Here's one I knocked up for myself, I'm working on a valve design T-Shirt next. 16. As these are the last remaining parts from my Jazz I thought I would list them on their own before putting them up on e-bay next weekend. Delano JMVC4FE M2 pickups like new with original box, screws and some of the foam £120 posted a bit less if you want to collect or meet in Central London or Luton. Lovey sounding pups with a distinctive look.
17. I now have no four string basses so these are not a lot of use to me. Send me a stamped addressed Jiffy bag and they are yours. R.
18. Met up with Cham yesterday to do a deal on a MIJ Jazz neck, nice guy and a joy to deal with. R.
