Slash at the Hydro. Myles Kennedy and the bassist/vocalist were on point. Could barely hear slash.

Not that I am a Slash fan but those who attended and are, must be infuriated, or maybe not?. With the advances in technology etc., surely you should be able to hear the bloody guitar player, particularly one of this status?. I am no longer a regular gig goer, for a number of reasons, not least because of my experience of increasingly poor audio standards at gigs.

My last major gig was Porcupine Tree in Amsterdam on November last. It just sounded like a bag of spanners for the most part, yet I heard precious few complain (well nobody), when chatting to other attendees when exiting the venue. The venue in question was a 17000 capacity arena, akin to a supersized shipping container.  I wonder as to whether the size of these venues are conducive to good sound reproduction. I understand that their upcoming DVD release is a recording of this show, the sound of which will be quite superb, particularly with Steven Wilson at the helm. It will bear nothing in comparison to the very poor live sound I heard that night.

On the other hand in June 2022, I caught Steve Vai at the Academy in Dublin, a comparitively small venue, with a capacity of 1000. The star of that show on the night in question, was the guy on the desk. Probably the best live sound I have ever experienced, other than Page and Plant on their 'No Quarter' tour in the Point Depot, Dublin 1995 (its a toss of a coin).

  2. I owned a NYC Sadowsky for a few years and enjoyed it. The fact that it was light weight, was a requirement for me. However the price they are selling for now is WAY over the top IMO. If I was buying a 'jazz' bass now, I would go for a Sire. My brother picked up a first generation model and I was knocked out by the finish, comfortable neck and excellent preamp. If had not been for the weight, I would have been quite happy to use it instead of the Sadowsky.

    After they've finished...

"was that hard to play? because it was hard to listen to."

Many years ago I tried out a Spector in a London store and tried my 'wickety wickets' slap style. The sales guy was 'wow you are some player' no doubt hoping his words would help with a sale. I knew I was total shite, put down the bass and walked out

Rest assured that all our Summer shows will go ahead as planned! Through the magic of technology Nate’s bass will continue to be heard at the shows even if you can’t see him. We hope this won’t spoil your enjoyment of the PT live experience.

No one could accuse you of that.  If you did, well, you picked the wrong instrument!  Should have been the lead guitarist!

Nice work mate, that was very good!

I am old school and with you on that. Blue is in the groove and staying out of the way. Way to go
