Am I reading that right? Fender are now advertising a finish on a bass to make it look like it did in the 60s, when new? What the hell does that mean??
It means "A fool & his money are soon parted"...

Give Paul McCartney a shout - he's got a piece of ivory this would go really nicely with.

What's a New Old Stock finish? Do they just put it in a dusty case?

And I'm getting stressed out about picking an amp up from Bridgend this afternoon... 😂

First time I've heard of these. Are they something special? Overpriced?
Polytone are an American amp manufacturer that seems to be mainly used by jazz guys.
Lots of jazz guitarists used to use them, though I don't know how popular they are these days.
They were always very highly regarded & seen as pretty high end kit back in the day.

Funny thing is he co-wrote some great hits of the 90s dancefloor era such as 'It's A Fine Day' made a hit by Opus III and Lost Witness' Happiness Happening.
I did not know that.

Eye of the beholder and all that. I think it’s hideous.😂
Me too.
It's a fantastic bit of woodwork but it looks naff as hell on a bass IMO.
And don't get me started on that bloody awful tacky butterfly they put on their headstocks. It looks like a sticker you'd get free with a My Little Pony. 😂

Thundercat should probably be on the list as well, though I find that "Duck through a mangle" bass sound he uses unlistenable after about 30 seconds.

You can argue whether this counts as 'singing' or not...but...Tom Araya from Slayer.
Dug P from King's X perhaps?
No perhaps about it, Dug is one of the best rock vocalists of all time IMO.

but why ? if I may be so bold to ask 😁
I saw it when it was originally broadcast (The Tube?) & it's popped into my mind on a fairly regular basis ever since.

Would you ask "Am I good enough" to live in a nice house? To drive a decent car? To have nice holidays?
I don't have any of those things so it's no real surprise to me that I don't own a Fodera. 😂

Too much responsibility, too much to lose if something bad happens to it. I had a play of a friend's Ritter a few years back and as lovely as it was (with a finish so deep and lustrous I could have dived into it) I was too scared to breathe on it wrong to be able to enjoy it. Couldn't get it off me and safely back into his hands quick enough. Playing an instument shouldn't be that stressful
I bought my dream guitar (a USA Hamer Standard) about 15 years ago & ended up selling it for exactly this reason.
I was so scared of damaging it I hardly ever took it out of the case.

I'm pretty easy when it comes to stuff like that.
I do have a list of total no-no's though, such as sunburst finishes & oil/wax finishes.

I don't often say Fender and Wow in the same sentence but...
