If you go for a newer 18v 5-string check how close the G is to the fingerboard edge. And you can’t loosen the bolts and yank the neck!

Great looking bass Loudspeaker. If I can sell my Sadowskys I’m considering getting a Django 5!

Is the body all aluminium, with different veneers front and back? Looks incredible.
The body is aluminum, hollowed out in places, with a carbon fiber cover. The front is an effect to look like flame.

Well, it has certain honk there, because of the Al box' dimensions. I drive it with Glockenklang Soul, and I am happy with the set. Soul was originally a combo (2x10"), but heavy, 38 kg. Now only the amp is 12 kg, and the alusonic cab 18 kg. Very nice to carry around.
The cab starts to sing in big venues. Even our rehearsal room is big enough for the whole band - we are 13 - but not big enough for bass. I usually keep the tweeter on, but pretty low. My equipment is capable of highs, but in our band bass' highs are mostly useless. Low end is my area.
I’ve been curious for a while. Certainly sounds like they deliver the goods!

Polly made my cab, a 2x12". Neat work.
Their cabs are very unique! Does it sound good?

I just took delivery of my Masterbuilt Alusonic J-Supreme. These are outstanding basses and definitely worth checking out! It has a great modern hifi sound and doesn’t need lots of tweaking with the 3 band eq. You guys have the luxury of going to Bass Direct to check them out, but I took a chance and totally relied on many discussions with Polly the owner of Alusonic to get the custom spec I needed.
I’m going to sell my Sadowskys to finance another!- 39

I’ve played many new 5 string Stingrays and a few had string alignment issues, G too close to the edge. And the old trick of loosening neck bolts and pulling the neck didn’t work as there was zero movement in the neck pocket.
Not an issue with 4 stringers.- 2

I have a Metroline Will Lee 5 and also rate this as the best ‘jazz’ I’ve owned. Build quality cannot be improved upon. Being built at Warwick it has invisible fret ends. You don’t get that on the NYC’s.

11/16 inch sounds roughly imperial equivalent... it's a 1997 model
Perfect! Thanks Luke

In other words, how deep does the neck sit into the body 🙂

Depth… in what direction?
Depth from the surface. I need to rout the neck pocket. I’m not referring to length or width. Thanks Luke

Longshot, but I’m building a body for a fellow BC member and need to determine the neck pocket depth. Can anyone help?
thanks! -
Hey Pete,
Great video, and thanks for the kind words. It was great fun making your body and I must say how nice the assembled bass looks! Definitely a great color scheme and a killer tone.

very cool, looks great! where did you get the knobs? they look original.
They are pressure molded from urethane, from original knobs.

That’s all @Chopthebass. I can take some credit for ideas, or at least someof them…but execution is all him. He’s a good listener/interpreter 👍
Thanks Pete! It was an enjoyable build!

That fretboard is fantastic. Really intense 'grain' on the abalone - one of the best I've seen in some time. If that was a 6 string there'd have been a strong possibility you'd have woken up in the morning with it 'missing'!
Haha! Funny you say that. After hearing this bass it got me thinking how cool a 6 would be.

Amazing!
So awesome
The only thing missimg is the little ball bearings sunk in for knob position indication!
I suppose with numbered knobs you dont need that thougj
I bought some brass to make the little knob markers, and totally forgot!! Thanks, I’ll get them done

Oohh, it has an XLR out. That's interesting as I was considering one of those for my build to match my Washburn AB-35.
Can I ask what the thinking in that was for you?
Mark
I wanted an XLR to match a Wal. It will be functional eventually. I have a Hammond audio transformer to make it work.

The build is over! Took ages getting the Walbuckers, but well worth it. The range of tones available from the Lusithand preamp is staggering. I really didn’t know what to expect, as I’ve never owned a Wal or experienced multi-coils.
It weighs in at 9.0 pounds, which is just about right, and no sign of neck dive.
I’m looking forward to gigging this!- 22

Hope they sound awesome too!
What to look for in a real US stingray?

Nothing wrong with my playing technique. The 5 strings (on the ones I have seen) have been off center, with ample space on the B. Construction or design flaw.
