  2. Hello, good to be here, any other aria pro ii sb bass lovers here?

The neck dimensions. 43mm nut but then a wider, more traditional string spacing at the bridge than the standard SB basses.

  6. Currently waiting for Tesco to open (as they’re no longer 24/7 🙄). Arrived early to avoid most of the mouth breathers. Let’s see how this goes. I just wanna do a normal shop FFS!

      Just in from Tesco CEO:

It is fair to say that we find ourselves in uncharted waters. COVID-19 is bringing a change to the UK and it’s clear that lots of things are going to have to shift around in order to help us cope.

At Tesco, we have been doing everything we can to keep business as usual, but we now have to accept it is not business as usual. In the last two weeks, we have seen significant and prolonged increases in demand across all of our stores and this is leading to shortages in some products for some customers.

Reacting to the latest government announcements, we have to plan on this situation being the new normal and we will do all that we can to make the food you want available, but we need your help.

In order to protect the core shopping essentials, we are going to implement some changes in our stores. The changes are designed to simplify what we do so that we can provide more of what people need in a clean and safe environment. We ask for your understanding and your support.

From Thursday 19 March we will start to implement the following changes:

      • To ensure more people have access to everyday essentials, we are introducing a storewide restriction of only 3 items per customer on every product line, and removing multi-buy promotions.
      • In order to allow Tesco colleagues to focus on stocking shelves, helping to provide the essential groceries you are looking for and to avoid waste, we will close all meat, fish, deli counters and salad bars.
      • To be able to ensure our stores are clean, that we can replenish stock, and allow our colleagues to rest, we will change our trading hours with all stores closing at 10pm.
      • To ensure we are doing everything possible to reduce the risk of infection for both our customers and colleagues, we will be introducing some distancing measures at the checkout and, to make it swifter, invite customers who can, to pay by card.
      • To help free up slots for the more vulnerable, such as our elderly customers and those who are self-isolating, we are encouraging customers who shop online or choose Click+Collect for their grocery home shopping, to prioritise shopping in-store where possible.
      • To ensure our more vulnerable and elderly customers can shop in-store, we will prioritise one hour every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning between 9-10am (except in our Express stores) and ask that you respect this.

Tesco store colleagues can't work from home and a good number of them will need to respond to personal or family challenges connected with dealing with COVID-19. So we would please ask that you understand the challenging environment in which we are all working. If you do go in-store and want to say thank you, then I'm sure they'd appreciate it.

So, if you could help us by limiting demand of essential items and allowing us to focus on the core needs of our customers – we are confident that we can continue to feed the nation. We are delivering food daily to our stores, but this is a very challenging time and we will only get through this if we work together.

      Thank you for your support.

      Dave Lewis

  7. Hi guys. Any thoughts about how to choose better pickup and electronics for my Ernie Ball Musicman StingRay 4 3band eq?
I want more mids and less treble than in factory pickup and electronics. Which one will be best in my case? There's so much options on market and I almost always bump my mids and cut some treble on my Stingray so I need something that it will be more transparent and flat sounding or at least more mids and less treble. Thanks!

*cough*  Take a look at the Basses for sale section. There are a couple of lovely Stingray Specials available :hi:

  9. Just recorded a very rough punk demo for my next song on an iPad propped up next to the Trace Bin. The bass is my new pink 51 replica. It rips through the song.

  10. Is it not against the rules to post an item for sale on here asking for the buyer to send money through Paypal Friends & Family? If not, it should be!! I see at least 1 scammer get called out on Facebook per week and it's ALWAYS because the buyer sent payment through F&F.

    1. Deedee

      Deedee

Yeah it is a fair point. We're all only one deal away from a bad deal unfortunately ☹️

I think the key is establishing whether it's a trusted seller/buyer or not. I've bought and sold many times on here using F&F without issue.

Would I buy that way from a noob without any feedback? Not a chance.

Didn't see the Grand Prix or the Tennis but the end of the Cricket was pretty special. Well done England 👍

  14. That's really it then, no more music or bands for me. The vast majority of my gear is sold. I'm left with a bag of cables and one keeper bass (still have another for sale, possibly sold...). 10 years of effort trying to find a 'functioning' band and nothing to show for it. Very much feels I've wasted a lot of time.

Sorry to hear this. I know band politics and behaviour can be one of the biggest pains/reasons to jack in. I hope you have at least had some fun along the way. All the best.

  15. Tonight is my first gig with Bowie tribute band Rebel Heroes. We'll be playing from 8.30-ish (which could actually be 9.00!) at the Cornerhouse, 1 Christchurch St East, Frome BA11 1QA. For the gear nerds, I will be mostly playing my '63 AVRI Precision through a Demeter head into a BF Super Twin. If you're a Basschatter, come up and say hello - but not while we're actually playing!

  17. Selling gear is cleansing.
Buying stuff gives me a bit of a kick, but I sometimes get to a point where I wonder why I got that particular thing. Just shifting an electro acoustic (no idea why I got that at all), a small guitar amp (same) and a random bass I don't use or need. Out with the old, less is more, quality up, volume down... and all that.
Let's see how long this lasts then :)

  18. Off to see Wilko Johnson tonight! With the superb Norman Watt-Roy on Bass & Dylan Howe on drums. Glenn Tilbrook supporting :)

Saw them a couple of years back in Sheffield. Great gig, great night. GT supporting is an added bonus.

      Oooh that's rather nice.

EDIT - Apologies, no need for me to comment on the price. I'll be in the corner reserved for self-flagellation 😞

  19. Never bought from Andy Baxter Bass but the 1973 P bass on his site coupled with their Divido monthly payment scheme is sorely tempting me!

  20. I've been out of work with stress for a couple of years.

Had a job interview earlier today - just had a message to say they were very impressed and asked if I can start next Monday.

Now what can I spend that money on???

  21. Playing/jamming out today with a bass I’m selling - dangerous for sellers remorse or what?! ;)

    1. Deedee

      Deedee

Always dangerous. Ordinarily once I've decided something is going it gets cleaned up, put in it's case and there it stays until it has a buyer.  Only exception was my Special which I hadn't allowed myself enough time to play.  Then I did get it out of the case and it hasn't been back in it since :D
