  1. I do not understand why any one gets upset when we want to change anything on our Fenders. Saying that we feel Leo got it wrong by doing our changes is Nuts. Leo Fender was a Genius! No doubt at all. He is also the one who changed his Guitars the most from his original designs with both Musicman and G&L. His autobiography tells us he worked on improving his instruments right to the day before he went to be with the Lord. The thing that stands out for me is Mr Fender wanted us to make his guitars are own in both form and function. I don’t know why people on T.B get their knickers in a knot about this either.
  2. I need some help here Bass Gurus. I have a Player series fretless jazz bass, white with a maple neck and a pauferro ( spell check on that ) finger board. The lines on the finger board are white and easily seen, the white dot position markers on the side of the neck are not. In low light the side dots just disappear. Would any of you know how to make the dots more visible? Would painting them black be better or another dark colour for the contrast? light reflecting paint? I have asked this question before on another forum and no one seemed to have an idea that appealed to me. Stickers will not even be talked about. Thanks, please let me know.
  3. Thanks, I will be posting another thread soon that I would like to see what others feel about a theory I am working on.
  4. I wanted my first post to be a series one so I will do my best. This is what I have seen to be true about English made basses. If you look down the fingerboard from the bridge to the nut the E and A strings can only down chromatically and the D and G can only go up chromatically. That is why English Basses can only be played from the right side. This is also why they are not imported to the America’s. Flat wound strings are for Apartment use only. The first bass played by James Bond ( Sean Connery) in the Sixties, was a double 0 fret model with 7 strings, made by Q Branch. Last but not least, all the valuables in the Tower of London are provided on loan by the bass players from Def Leppard, The Stones, Moody Blues and Led Zeppelin. thought I would let you know.
  5. Hello from Canada. My name is Clayton and have a bunch of questions for bass players from across the pond. I have four basses and enjoy them all for what they are. My latest is my first Fender. A player series fretless jazz and I am amazed how much I enjoy it. It is so different from my Yamaha’s and my Warwick. Some interesting sounds at Worship practise sometimes. . I belong to SBL and have found it very informative. I am intrigued by what the opinion of fretless is in your part of the world.
