Ouch, this brings back painful memories... I sold my first and most favoured Stingray in 2008 when I needed to sell off all my gear to buy a flat. I've bought and sold a huge amount of basses but the Stingray is the only one I'd want back, every year I send an email to the guy who has it now, every year he says he won't sell it!

Better off with a £700 bank loan in the long run perhaps?

    If not, GLWTS :)

    Thanks both and.... eeek....

    You are probably right....

(first dibs on the buyback for anyone who buys it please...)

  2. Hi all

Last of my basses up for sale. A Gibson RD copy but without the backbreaking maple body or £2k price tag.

Made in and Imported from Japan. You won't see many if any like thisin the UK. It's probably a bit over priced. You could import one for similar money but not in this order. It's practically immaculate. (I'm not gonna be too sad if I don't sell it TBH) Build quality is fantastic. Neck is super easy to play J profile.

I have changed the knobs to Gibbo speed ones since these pics as I think they look better. Original ones included in the sale.

Selling to fund a Custom ACG build so no trades thanks.

Comes with a Very good ESP gig bag.

Weighs in at 9lb12oz or 4.4kgs in yer newfangled metric. Balances perfectly I might add. Zero neck dive.

Will post anywhere at cost to a spec ie. Insurance cover to your requirements. Or come and try it/pick for no extra charge from sunny Dorset. Complimentary tea and biscuits provided, in compliance with Basschat law

  3. Hi all

My first "proper" bass. Said many times I'd never sell it....As some of you will testify I have had a LOT of stingrays and MM basses over the years. They have all been good but this one for some reason is just a bit special. Looks pretty standard sure but has absolute spadefulls of bottom end. You will be heard in any band. This gonna be one of those: (ones that you wished you hadn't sold moments) Damn the Gas🙈

I have been the only owner since 2001. Has one little ding as shown. Pick guard is pretty scratched up. Frets are wearing but still fine. It's been my main gigging bass for 15 years. Nuff-said.

Selling to fund a Custom ACG build so no trades thanks.

Comes with a tatty but functional gig bag.

Will come with strap locks and a Gibson strap

Weighs in at 10lb1oz or 4.6kgs in yer newfangled metric

Will post anywhere at cost to a spec ie. Insurance cover to your requirements. Or come and try it/pick for no extra charge from sunny Dorset. Complimentary tea and biscuits provided, in compliance with Basschat law

  4. Hi all.

Great little bass this, light and balanced. Loads of great tones from your classic j-bass through to very passable approximations of MM and P. £1050

I commissioned it from Sandberg to this spec through bass direct. The Ebony fretboard with dots and the HCA all added a fair bit to the cost but make it look and feel the business IMO

Only selling to raise funds for a custom ACG so no trades thanks.

Comes with the original Sandberg gig bag.

Weighs in at 9lb or 4.09kgs in yer newfangled metric.

Comes with a non aged black pick guard as well as the original aged white one, as in pics.

The eagle eyed amongst you will notice one of the tuners is a little creased. Comes with a brand new one (aged appropriately of course)

Will post anywhere at cost to a spec ie. Insurance cover to your requirements. Or come and try it/pick for no extra charge from sunny Dorset. Complimentary tea and biscuits provided, in compliance with Basschat law

  5. Hi all.

Beautiful Musicman sterling for sale only. No trades thanks £850

Bought this from Gareth on here a few months back. Great bass, tidy and straight. Stingray type noises but with a bit more bite (yes really!) and a jazz bass like neck profile.

Only selling to raise funds for a custom ACG

Comes with the original HS case
Weighs in at 9lb1oz or 4.11kgs in yer newfangled metric
Currently strung with the mythical Ernie ball cobalt flats (which are ace)

If you can arrange a day trip up to Surrey from Dorchester in September my two and a good few more will be at the SE Bass Bash. See in the events forum. You'd be welcome to try them out (which is half the fun of a Bass Bash!).

On your last q in your post. I have a real dislike of the fatter P and Stingray necks and love Jazz bass necks. The Wals have always felt more akin to the latter than the former to me. But of course, if you were ordering, personal prefs may be able to be accommodated.

Hey thanks Trevor. Great info, that's pretty much what I wanted to hear.. I'm happy enough with a stingray neck but can't get on with a P. Jazzes are generally too narrow for me... My Sandberg is a compromise of both I'd say...fussy lot aren't we...(well I am anyway)

and I'll check out the events re: the bass bash.👍🏼

It's weird that I've played bass for 20yrs now and I've still never come across one to try or even have a proper look at a gig or in a shop. Nothing.. Bad luck I guess.
