2. 2006 Stingray 4. In perfect condition. 3 band eq. Maple neck/fingerboard. Sounds like what a Stingray should. Nicely set up, (not by me) with super low action. 3. I had this problem with the same amp a couple of months ago, as said before, resoldered everything, now it works 100%
4. Hey thanks for your thoughts everyone. Quite like the idea of buyind a US standard or the Mex active and then getting a pre-amp after if needed. How much does a good on board one cost? + which are the good ones and how easy would they be to fit to a passive jazz? +are pedal pre-amps cheaper and as good? I have just bought a gorgeous 73 jazz from Heartbreaker so i have kinda got the passive tone sorted. Basically i want a Jazz style bass that can be a back up or slightly more mellow alternative to my stingray. Do you think i would find a new passive US standard have the bottom end and cut of a Stingray if just turned up a bit? Are the Sandberg JM California jobs the answer maybe? Do they sound more Jazz or Ray? A load of questions i know... Thanks in advance!
5. Thinking of getting a US Deluxe Jazz, noticed the mexican active jazzes are an awful lot cheaper. Apart from 9 less V on the pre-amp, 2 less frets and no through body stringing. They seem exactly the same! Seriously has anyone got experiance of either? Are the duluxe ones worth an extra £750 for the above extras??? Is the build quality a lot better? etc.etc...

13. I had a Jaguar (White and tortie) it was beautiful, great neck, very versatile. Then my stingray came back from a repair job.... The ray just blows it right out of the water for sound/tone IMHO. Jaguars are also not brilliantly balanced either, they do have a mild case of neck dive. In summary, I now own 2 stingrays and 0 Jaguars. Hope this helps.
14.
Gents, Whats the best cleaning fluid for a Bass? I particularly mean the body, want to get that brand new shine back! Steve.
I use Pledge furniture polish, seems to work for me.
15. Loved Reef, still do. Great bass playing on all the albums. Saw them live once at Bournemouth, at a surfers against sewage christmas ball, still one of the best gigs i've ever been to, Jack Bessent lying on his back crowd surfing, still playing his stingray5, class. So excited about this news, anybody know if there is an album yet?
16. Now traded folks. Thanks for the interest.
17. Here is my Stingray 5. In beautiful condition (only one v.minor mark on it, shown in last pic) Colour: Pacific Blue burst with white pearloid scratchplate. Serial No: E49486 I got this 6 months ago after buying a cheap 5 string and quite enjoying it. Sadly haven't ever properly got to grips with it and just end up using it as a back up for my 4 string Ray. Would prefer to trade it, but will sell for £900ish? Trades i could be interested in are (4 stringers only, obviously!): Sandberg California J, Stingray, Sterling, Active Fender Jazz. Or maybe another nice active 4 stringer (not keen on warwicks) Hit me with any suggestions you have? Cheers Tom
18. How about trades for a 5 string stingray?

22. Do not fret Purpleblob! This just recently happened to my Stingray, no amount of new batteries or fiddling could sort it, after much stressing the problem was traced to the battery compartment being busted, a new one is just £11. The thing is it was really hard to sus out what was going on cos it looked fine, connecting the wires directly to a battery exposed the fault (might be worth a try?) Sadly i am still waiting for said part, as it has to come all the way from the old US of A. In the meantime i am starting to get used to a Fender Jag and thinking it sounds ok........It is only a matter of time.... Tom
