Does this REALLY sound like in does in that video? I have loads of 6-strings but none that I can get sounding that velvet.
They all sound flat...this sounds beaut! Please tell me that he's not put loads of effects on and...I might want to take it off u! Although I really should get a fretless...
What's the spacing anyways? 16.5mm - 17.mm?
U said the sound in vid is in passive so is it active / passive?
Thanks.
Yeah it has an incredibly smooth tone, extremely solid woody sound with great sustain. I love the Bartolini sound on anything only thing it can't do is an aggressive vintage growl but the preamp definately pushes it towards Zender's realm. It has a passive/active switch - I just tend to prefer passive basses in general. The chap in the video isn't using effects, first decent sound quality video of an A6. I'd say the spacing is 16.5mm measuring it with my ruler now - its very narrow but still easy to slap. I adapted to it in a week and i'm a four string player with small hands . -
Thats a wonderful bass, best of luck to its new owner!

Bump! Still available - interest from outside basschat only. I may keep it instead of saving up for a high end 5 string...

You've got some amazing stuff there!!
I've never tried one of these but I would love and I'd probably have had a punt at this and bought blind but at this kind of price it'd have to be in my fav colour/livery and that'd have to be 'burst with tortie!
Best of luck with the sale though.
I'm a burst n tortie fan too! Although black pearloid and black works dandy also! I love the fact the bridge is inline wih the pickups on this one. Also the headstock brill, all round great but no funds n after a 5! best of luck with the sale! -
I had a Lynyrd Skynyrd tape when I was 5 n I played it over n over till it died. Still got the worn out bit o card from inside n its got a picture of Leon Wilkeson recording with one o these, always remember it. If I were to get a tele bass, would have to get the humbucker version. Do you play it wearing a top hat?

Does anyone have any experience of fanned frets, is there much of a learning curve?
I'd like to try a six. Trouble is I need to sell my Sandberg fretless 4 to fund the purchase. Do you fancy a trade ?

That bass looks wicked, can tell what it would sound like before I've even played it. I've been very impressed with the Sandbergs I've played, another value for money bass. Unfortunately I can only transport one bass and one guitar at the moment - which is why the Corts up for sale. I'd expect your sandberg to go pretty soon though, I've had a lot of offers from people just browsing google. Have you tried gumtree in London??
Six string is a joy because theres not detuning/retuning and you have both the low B for funk and metal and the high C for chords and soloing. Like a fretless, great bass to have in the arsenal! I'm just enjoying the hot pickups in my EB3 and the valve amp simulation on my Genz Benz for the mo... -
You musta been an awesome player if you could find your way around that! Absolutely gorgeous, I'd need lines unfortunately.

Cheers cm261, Cort make fantastic basses. This is my second, the first was a Cort A4 that I got made fretless. So good had to get another! They have a masterpiece series above this that had fancy wood tops which looked about over a grands worth of wood for £800!

Hows the balance on this?
-
Thats amazing, signatures the icing on the cake. Very cool. I'd keep it personally!!

Looks a fantastic bargain, intermediate bass for a beginners price.

If their related to you I woulda thought so. And if you play a lil diddy on it for them in return??

Finally! A video that makes me wanna keep it and shows me what I could sound like if I put in the time and effort. Please note that its the passive tone on the video!! Enjoy...

ALSO!! Nice to see that musicman have started swapping the screws on the pickups round, they really got in the way when playing. Shame they don't do that finish on the single pickup version. Best of luck with the sale!

I could sleep in that case, makes my bed look proper sh*t...

Hi Seb, I can't travel the halfstack as i'm in Cardiff. Collection only i'm afraid. Apologies.
-
PMs Replied to.
Collection offer will be continued as the old man has agreed to help me out.
The head and cab together cost me £1k new, should be sold at £500 as its in mint a1 condition and its 2nd hand (i'm the original owner). Price is at £350 for an incentive for collection of halfstack package - they're made for eachother...
Can't split until I can post in the summer which will inevitably mean a large loss on my part -
Bumped again

Hands Down, best bass I've seen on this forum to date.

Haha! I love the Bootsy Bass. Beautiful top on the MTD.
Charvel....anyone know anything about them?

Charvel weren't just Japanese. I have owned two US Charvels - check to see if it says San Dimas, California, the Fort Worth Texas ones were actually made in Japan. I always bought the Star models (still own an 87-88 Guitar Version) I only bought them because I knew they were US made, and the shape is unique and inspired by Eddie Van Halen. My favourite guitar Chris Holmes played one also! The toothpaste logo is a good indicator of the Japanese ones as well as the Charvette (also japanese). The one your friend has, has the american logo but would need to see the neckplate. They're all extremely well made and the necks are unbeatable on the guitars Dave Gilmour (Pink Floyd) used them. On my star bass it was pretty fantastic too, unlaquered, not P but not Jazz either. 50 quid is a sheer bargain - your friend should be chuffed. I paid £400 for my Charvel Bass, it had a P+P setting just as well built as a fender, fantastic hardshell but the lipstick red finish was a tad boring. If you were to sell it to an American, you'd fetch a lot more - don't have the renown in the UK.
Hope this helps!
