I'm 5'11 and I played an OW 36" - I didn't notice any difference changing to and from my '58-esque Precision.
I had a Peavey Cirrus 35" and that felt longer than the 36" for some odd reason. OW magic.

Always flatwounds for me - At the moment, I have the stock Carvins on mine. Having tried those from Thomastik Infeld and D'Addario before, I've now settled on Rotosound.
-
I have a P, Fretless J5, EB2D-type and Modern Soapbar - All bases/basses covered. I've owned 6'ers and I just don't use them, but I need the 5'er really.

Hopefully a one-off.

Final bump before withdrawal.

Possibly a sandberg.

If you hit yourself in the head with a Peavey Cirrus (several times), it will start to look like a Gibson Thunderbird. This is true.

Nobody knows... Call yourself a bass forum *shakes head*

I can see Carl Thompson had the shape in 1977, but with Dimarzio Model Js.

Gibson Thunderbird
The Overwater Original took it a bit further...
Now with a 5 piece neck, more ergonomic shape and nice facing(s) on the wings.
Anybody know? I'm thinking 70s some time.

Thru neck with humbucking soapbars, like the original Bartolinis.
-
Double soapbar, thru neck bass? I'd say Alembic at a guess, as the original inspiration for...
Tobias Classic
Ken Smith Burner
Jaydee Supernatural
Overwater Progress
Marleaux Consat
Spector
Carvin Icon
Cort Artisan
...And so on.
I have one of these, a precision, a fretless jazz and an EB2D, so I don't really need anything else, but I play the double soapbar the most (and always have since starting).

Pretty much a brand new Carvin for £950...

This model is also known as the SC1 EB.

Shouldn't last long

Umm...Wow 🤪

Well, Fujigen-Gakki made those Ibanezes and I haven't inflated the price because of it.

When members are falling over eachother to pay £250 for a squier while this is sitting in the classifieds, I die inside a little.

@Mikey D Yep! Side dot inlays where the fret tang or line would be.

Fretless fingerboard wear / string choice?

The board on my fretless has extra thick rosewood - I think that's in case you're a rounds player.
