  1. We’ve been booked to play a pub gig and the payment is, apparently, via Events UK. Does anyone know anything about how this works?
  2. There’s a lot of work in that. Strange seeing someone else’s interpretation which is very different to the pictures I see when I play the album. I like it though. And a good excuse to listen to the album again. Thanks for posting
  3. I’ve always had an irrational and probably undeserved dislike of Charles Shaar Murray.
  4. I don’t think you can sustain a career across so many decades and have an influence on such a variety of artists without being counted up there as one of the “greats”. He has rarely done anything which could be considered mainstream (whatever that is) and, sure, there are better vocalists, guitarists and lyricists out there, but his career speaks for itself and needs no justification from anyone. I’ve got a lot of his albums - though by no means all - from across the years but the one I keep going back to is Goldrush. I have most of Dylan’s albums up to Blood On The Tracks and rarely listen to them. I listen to NY regularly
  5. I think it’s called “The View Count Is Going Up Nicely”.
  6. Jon Anderson - the Accrington “r” keeps coming through
  7. This turned up in the post today - I’d forgotten if pre-ordered it. I am very much looking forward to listening to it in glorious 5.1 surround....
  8. This is quite useful... https://geoffthegreygeek.com/multiple-speakers-share-power/?amp
  9. I’ve bought from most of the ones listed above and they’re all fine when everything goes well. Its when there are problems that you discover the true measure of a company’s customer service. On that basis, I have had exemplary service from GAK and GuitarGuitar where items have had faults or arrived damaged (not the shop’s fault) and just been sorted out without any issue or cost to me.
  10. I’m the same - one of those in the corner would make my “music room*” look much bigger than it is. At the risk of hijacking the thread, I wonder if they do “that” sound as a proper Ampeg should? *okay, the conservatory
  11. They do, along with Cubasis which, I think, is the iPad version. Theres also some mixer software, including an iPad version which I haven’t fully investigated yet but which looks like it might be handy and opens up the possibility of using the UR44C and iPad as a live digital mixer for the band rather than the massive great Yamaha desk we currently lug around. I haven’t investigated yet but it could be useful. I use Logic and I’m pretty happy with it so the Cubase AI isn’t that much use to me but for anyone without a DAW it’s a handy extra and looks very well featured
  12. Got the UR44C today and although I’ve not had chance to try it properly, I’ve got it hooked up and checked that it’s working and first impressions are very good. Build quality seems excellent, it all worked pretty much straight out the box and the software seems useful and usable. My only minor gripe is that it’s not immediately apparent how you check for the firmware version to see if it needs updating (it didn’t) but everything else looks good. I’ll be giving it a proper try out over the weekend and I’ll try to do an A/B comparison with my old (Zoom) interface.
  13. Or, as an unexpected bonus of the current situation, a reasonable pop filter could be fashioned from a single-ply face mask. Unused or recently laundered for preference.
  14. Thanks for this. Ruby Baby is one of my all-time favourites and I’m looking forward to have a crack at some of the others
  15. In light of the above and all the reviews I’ve read, a UR44C has been ordered and is on its way. 😁
  16. I’m looking for a new Audio Interface and, for a variety of reasons, am looking for something with 4 inputs. The new Steinberg ticks all the boxes, has USB 3.0 and is a reasonable price. I’ve no experience of Steinberg products so I’d welcome any first-hand feedback on reliability, performance, etc., especially compared to the ubiquitous Focusrite Scarlett
  17. Is there a Cash Converters in Basildon? Might be worth a call to them?
  18. Isn’t the accepted wisdom that string-through increases sustain? So if you play with a foam mute and go for that old school thump, then it’s through the bridge, presumably. What did Jamerson do?
  19. This is the first sensible discussion I have seen on any social media platform on the topic of Covid-19. Informative, reasoned and mutually respectful. Thank you all for restoring my faith that society still has the ability to conduct a rational and sensible debate now and again.
