1. I thought the whole thing was just to do with protection of staff, just like the whole no smoking thing. The way most places got around this was just to supply ear plugs free of charge. The only places I've ever played with a limiter are older and more respectable buildings. If it was brought in as law then surely all gigs would become a thing of the past???
 2.
Oooh, I used to gig there when I were a student type And Fibbers. And other places I've totally forgotten the names of. Plus the university, of course. Ahem. Say hello to the City Screen for me!
ahh cool, will do. Fibbers is still there, but the guy who used to run it now run the duchess - much bigger venue, and more amusingly, it's practically next door http://www.theduchessyork.co.uk/

 6. hallo Thought I'd try touting my band, worst that can happen is nowt. So, anybody in and around York next week, the band what I is in, Captains of Industry can be found warbling away at the City Screen in York. Fun packed evening with 4 acts on, so the £5 isn't too shabby I don't think (£4 with a flyer). If anybody does turn up after reading this, come and say hi, I might even buy you a drink All the best James - Currently spanking my plank for Captains of Industry http://www.myspace.com/captainsuk
