  1. There's no comparison on youtube between the Ashdown Studio 15 and the Fender Rumble 200, there are few sound clips of the AS15 and -- somewhat surprisingly -- also few of the FR200. However, there's a Thomann video that compares, among others the AS12 and FR100. It would seem that the AS12 is not as loud as the FR100 (although the volume knobs aren't quite in the same position), which may mean that the Ashdown speakers have a lower sensitivity (and neither can keep up with a drummer unless mic'ed). However, the AS15 is 300W vs the 140W of the FR200, which should make up for a 3db eventual difference in speaker's sensitivity. Vs the AS12, the AS15 should be more than 4dB louder, so can probably keep up with a drummer.
  2. That's good to know. Does anyone have any insights regarding the amp/speaker conundrum?
  3. Right now, the Ashdown Studio 15 is about 30% cheaper than the Rumble 200; it's also about 30% lighter and it is 300W rms into 8ohm, vs 200w into 4ohm ( but only 140ohm into the 8 ohm speaker, need to add a cab for 200w). Curiously, while the Rumble can add another cab, but the Ashdown cannot -- I'm very puzzled: Is the speaker 4ohm -- in which case why would they quote the amp power into 8ohm?... Or is the speaker 8ohm -- in which case, why can't we add another speaker? Is it an amp that cannot go below 8ohm?
  4. 😁 No-no-no, I meant also, not instead of ; I'd still prefer a 12" system. As simple as possible. The PR320 is about 45% more expensive and less sensitive than the PR300... The Beymas are heavy... The B&Cs seem to be geared towards low mids, with weaker bass... Getting Xmax, vent air velocity and full power to work together is a conundrum.
  5. I kinda fancied the 12'' system -- but I'm now following the new 10'' system thread.
  6. Ah, yes -- more expensive. And heavier. B&C 12CL76? Faital PR300? Which ones do you have in mind? It's for the small 30ish cab...
  7. Thank you for the welcome Phil, this was indeed my first "delurking". If looking for lightweight, well, the 12CL64 is only 1.9kg! B&C recommends 64Hz tuning and 40L volume. Without the baffle recessed, this cab may be appropriate. I may take your offer sometime -- but my wife is not as pleased by sawdust as yours 😉
  8. Ah, OK , thank you, chaps. But then whether it's 30L or 32L or something else, would depend on the driver.... Phil, have you considered the B&C 12CL64?
  9. Seeing this Easy 12"" cab build referred to as 30L puzzles me... since its internal dimensions give it a little over 37L... or are my calculations off?
