  1. Nice bass. In the previous listing thread I think people homed in on the right sort of date estimates. I’d be confident the body is 69 or early 70. Seen a lot of these, and the pickup spacing is 60s but some bodies with this spacing were still trickling out in 1970. The bridge is correct for 69 or 70, the neckplate could be either - leans more towards 69 but again, some with numbers around this range were still coming out in 70. Capacitor suggest late 69 or 70. So I think the body and most components are from one instrument of that vintage (stripped rather than originally natural), which probably had the neck swapped out due to the ubiquitous problems they had in that era. Or maybe just cos someone liked maple & pearl blocks... remember these weren’t sought-after antiques until quite recently! Neck will be from 74 or so. Pickguard I’d wager is from a 90s AVRI 62 reissue, badly cut to fit! Hope I haven’t repeated too much of what people have already said. GLWTS, it’s a nice instrument and no reason to be sceptical of it, as long as we acknowledge the body didn’t leave the factory with that neck or pickguard!
  2. Hi, nice bass. Are the dots ‘clay’ or white? Hard to tell from the pics! Do you have the ‘floor traveller’ spec sheet by the way? Cheers, Joe
  3. Hi, very interesting basses. How stable is the neck on the jazz? I see the binding is a bit lifted on one side (not being critical, it’s a 51 year old guitar after all); interested to know if the truss rod has ever had to be repaired or had the old washer trick done or any such thing... I’ve owned a few jazzes of this era, they can’t be temperamental or just fine! By the way, awesome refin, do you mind my asking who did them?
  4. Hello, Interesting bass, is it still available? One thing I need to ask about is whether the fingerboard has been planed down at some point - the last dot marker, nearest the body, looks like it has been partially sanded away. I’ve come across a few necks from this era that have been planed thinner at the heel end to take out a hump or lift. In fact I have a 66 P bass that has been planed down so the fingerboard is very thin towards the end. Could you please send me pics of the binding taken from the sides, particularly around this area? Many thanks, Joe
