  1. Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better for me. It's a superb song, added to the simple fact that when I grew up Roger Moore was Bond. So many of the early songs were great: From Russia, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds ...

I don't think KD Lang's Surrender (closing theme for Tomorrow Never Dies) has been mentioned, but it would have made a great theme.

  2.

I tried one of these my local shop and the frets were sharp and would need some work. Other than that the finish was fine, but I didn't find the bass particularly inspiring.

I also tried the Mononeon Jazz whilst there, and it was superb. Fit and finish was great, and it comes from the same factory. I guess the signature models get the extra tlc .. I have a JMJ Mustang and that is top quality.

  3. My 2019 MIJ hybrid jazz bass. It's well built, not heavy and came with very nice 'vintage US' pickups. But what edges it for me over my Am pro is the neck. It's more chunky, closer to a U, and it just works for me.

So what is going to happen with print subscriptions? How will my remaining two issues be delivered ?

I have a print subscription which it seems they automatically cancelled. Next payment was due in a few days so I'll need to check that they haven't taken that.

Was thinking about cancelling my subscription since the content wasn't great, but that was weighed against having a physical magazine rather than a screen for once.

  5. I saw Scouting For Girls a few years ago and was really surprised to see that the bass player had switched from the Fender Jazz he had used before to a Gibson Thunderbird. I immediately thought that it wouldn't work. But it did ... looked good and sounded great.

    Bit of a thread revival.

Did you tryout the Fallout? If so, how did it compare to the JMJ?

It was very nice. Well finished, the pickup sounded great and it was a lot of fun to play. But it was heavier than the jazz I was also trying out. Still love my JMJ 😀

  7. Along with several basses I own one guitar, a telecaster. It arrived with a very small knot about a millimetre in size on the neck towards the headstock. The guitar played beautifully but I still thought about returning it. Then on day two I dinged it (no surprise there) so no more  chance to return and it hasn't bothered me once since.

I think keep it, so long as it plays well otherwise. It adds a bit of uniqueness.
