  1. 45-105 or 40-100 ?

I've always played 45-105's but I was thinking of trying 40-100's, is there that much of a distinguishable difference between the two gauges?

I own 3 Precisions. One has 40-100s fitted and the other two have 45-105's.

There's no change in sound between the basses but the lighter gauge strings are easier to play.

@gjones I agree, I just restrung my Spector with a set of 40-100, the action is a little bit lower and the lighter gauge is definitely easier to play.  The bass sounds the same.

Your action was lower with a lighter guage?  I usually find the opposite due to the lesser tension.  In E standard my preference is certainly the 100's
