Total Watts

  1. Fwiw, I'm a grumpy synic with a healthy dislike for millenials... I think I'll blend right in 😏
  2. You don't say! Been on the hunt for a Gibson Ripper for ages. 5 mins after joining the forum, I stubled upon a decent looking one and couldn't resist and contacted the seller 🤦‍♂️ I doubt my wife will be happy with me joining this place 🤦‍♂️
  3. Another noob here. As in, new to the forum. I'm old as f*ck, nearly 40 to be painfully honest. Anyway, I never really let go of the sort of music I grew up, which is mostly indie/emo/hardcore/postrock, but I'd say my taste in music is all over the place. Mostly been playing guitar the last couple decades. But my first love is the bass. For some reason my kids seem to be attracted more to my bass guitar than my other 6 string guitars, dispite having more trouble with the bigger size and thicker strings. It got me into playing bass again, big time. But it's really frustrating that my old bass is falling apart. That's what brought me here...I've been out of the loop, and I'm thinking of maybe treating myself to decent bass gear. Bass: Kawai FB2. It plays like butter, but I'll have to fix the wiring and maybe replace some switches/controls. Playing with the idea of replacing the pu's/preamp with something that gets me more oomph, cause as good as it sounds now, it's pretty much useless for heavy hardcore/metal... Amp: beat up old GK 400RB IV. Won't take more than a new pot, input, and a good clean up to get it going again. No major complaints there, though the only other real bass amp I've had experience with was an Ampeg SVT 200T. So I don't have much to compare to, but if the consensus is that there's an obvious upgrade for the Gallien-Krueger, I'd be eager to try it out. Cabinet: beat up Ampeg 410HLF. Does the job, but the one time I used the venue's backline I was blown away. A small Orange 4x10, sounded surprisingly different than my ampeg cab, in a really good way. So yeah, be prepared for some nerdy gear questions and advice about dealers/builders/etc.
