  1. So it’s time to let this one go .. was my go-to bass for ages. The Bassman sticker will come off, as will the luminous markers on the neck .. although they are really good for when you’re stuck at the back of a dark stage. Happy take it all off if requested! Totally stock - not monkeyed around with at all. I took the scratchplate off as soon as I bought it (10 years ago in New Jersey). Still have it somewhere…. Hofner brand wirewounds are fitted and a spare set are also included, as is the leather Hofner strap that was originally supplied.
Will take more pics if needed - collection Bournemouth but will courier at cost!

    Cheers folks, thanks for looking!

  2. Here’s my Dug pedal - works a treat! A few minor blemishes after rolling around in my gig bag but an immaculate range of tones. A change of musical direction has meant that I’ve only been using it as a tuner - criminal waste! Tin, manual, reg. cert and shiny sticker included!

Collection Bournemouth or will post for a fiver.

  3. Virtually new, personally brought over from the US as they seem hard to find in the UK. Hardly gigged - maybe four times - not a mark on it.

A very tight focussed sound IMO, a one-hand lift! A fantastic cab, I'm only selling as going combo/ in-ears.

Comes with a new Roqsolid zipper bag/cover.

    Collection from Bournemouth only!

  4. So I’ve been playing in rock bands since I was fourteen … now 68. Of course I have tinnitus and, stupidly, have only been using ear protection for the last couple of years, I also gig with in-ears when I can.

Has anyone recommendations for really good ear protection? I don’t mind spending money on this - I just need to keep what I’ve got for as long as I can!

    Cheers all!

  5. So here are my two Subway cabs … the 115 was bought used and has been a brilliant cab. The 210 is a lot newer and has been gigged far less. The 115 comes with a new Roqsolid cover. Great condition on both, no dings, scuffs, scars etc.

Only selling these great cabs because I’ve been sucked down the GR Bass/in-ears vortex! (And happy to be here…)

I gave the cabs a quick damp wipe before taking the pics…. hadn’t quite dried, tolex is actually perfect!

Collection Bournemouth or happy to meet somewhere mutual.

  6. Here’s my isobaric (whatever that means..) 212 …. actually bought this a couple of months ago to see if it would pair OK with my GR combo. It did .. then a GR 112 cab came along, so this great little cab is surplus.

2x12 rated at 600w into 8 ohms, with a small footprint and not crazy heavy. A little tolex peel on the back but not awful.

Collection Bournemouth or happy to meet somewhere reasonable!

    Cheers.

Great amps. If the new owner doesn't want to use your ingenious solution to "amp walk" then they could try a rubber bar mat like this

    image.png.e6fe1eb24b595bcb9eee36f05714628f.png

It works a treat and I also use it for my Grace Felix when it's on top of my GR powered cab..the Grace doesn't walk like the Mesa

but it did get pulled off onto the floor once when I caught my foot in a cable.

Never thought of that - now tucked away for future reference! Cheers!

  8. Here’s my trusty Mesa … in very good shape, no dents or dings (thanks to the flightcase which is included in the sale). Countless gigs and never let me down. I put the cups in the lid of the case to stop the amp sliding off the top of the cabs - it works!

Pickup only I’m afraid or happy to meet somewhere within reason.
    Cheers guys.

Firstly - no, this does NOT INCLUDE THE BASS!!

So I’m thinking of scaling down my onstage setup as I find myself more frequently just using a combo with in-ears - and I’m loving the simplicity! Less rock n’roll I guess, but there you go, the reality is that somehow I reluctantly appear to be hurtling towards 70.

This is a Mesa D800 with a Subway Ultralite 1x15 and Ultralite 2x10.

There are the usual Mesa slip covers for the cabs and the 115 has a brand new Roqsolid cushioned cover. The amp sits in the flightcase with its cables. A nice, neat, easy to carry/transport unit with a massive Mesa sound. These do not seem to crop up very often on the used market here in the UK.

I’m happy to take and upload more detailed pics if there’s any interest, just ask. Collection only from sunny Bournemouth. Cheers!

  10. So here is the second of the two basses I thought I would never part with. (The first was my White Falcon and I miss it! If you’re reading this, I hope you’re enjoying her, Dale).

This 1967 4005 is, of course, in played condition, I’d say pretty good actually for a well enjoyed 57 year old. As the pics show there are a few battle scars here and there with a surprisingly small area of buckle rash on the back. There’s also some varnish cracking/lifting at the top of the fretboard. The original case gave up the ghost some time ago so there’s a replacement hard shell one included.  (Hard to find!)
Pickups sound good and strong to me (last gig with her was a month or so ago, I don’t use her all the time - I have to be selective). I’ve never had her set up or adjusted, I’d say any fret wear is minimal despite the rounds I fitted and her neck is straight. As far as I’m aware everything is original, I don’t have the courage or the necessary skills to start taking things apart but I guess I’d be prepared to lift the scratchplate for pics if needed.
I’ve had the privilege of owning her for, I think, about 10 years, purchased from a Talkbass member in New Jersey.
The only trade I’d be up for would specifically be against a 1956 Precision …. any out there??
Happy to take more pics if asked. Sorry, UK sale only and there is absolutely no way she’s going anywhere with any kind of courier so it’s strictly collection only or possibly a mutually agreed meet-up.
    Thanks for looking!

  11. So I’ve been caught up in this infinity loop of bass playing/trading/buying/selling since 1970. Yes, I’m that old and still at it … and grateful to be!

Best buy … a 1964 Hofner Violin from some bloke in a basement flat in east London in 1979. £99 …. I even kept the handwritten receipt - found it the other day.

Worst buy … a pre-CBS Fender Jazz from a very cleverly written and photographed ad on Craigslist (I was living in the US at the time). I totally took a chance that the guy really didn’t know what he had ‘found in the garage of a house he had bought’ … of course it was a total lemon when it arrived. I broke it up, sold whatever bits I could off of it and threw the rest in a dumpster.

Best sale … saw a big ole Phil Jones 2 cab rig advertised on eBay for a seriously low starting price, sniped it a week later for not much more, rented a car to drive to the Lake District (from the south coast). Gigged it a couple of times then sold it to a guy in a Morrisons car park for 3 times what I paid.

Worst sale … I always regretted selling my 1967 Ricky 4005. It had a totally ugly neck/headstock repair but was solid as a rock and sounded lovely. Got a decent enough price for it but should never have let it go.

Still looking out for the next thing!!

  12. So here’s the first of two basses I never thought I would be selling, but it is what it is. You don’t see too many of these, the photo’s don’t really do her justice, she’s a blingy beast of a bass which I have had from new about 7 years maybe? In that time I have recorded with it once, rehearsed possibly a dozen times and played live maybe twice, the rest of the time she has simply been hanging on my wall, so her condition is excellent. I’ll be happy to take more pics if asked and will happily answer any question! Currently strung with GHS Pressurewounds. Collection from BH1 preferred but prepared to meet up somewhere mutually agreeable! Thanks for looking.

  13. So here’s my GR Bass combo. I wouldn’t be selling this but my Mesa Subway is calling me back. Everything you hear about these units is true. Unbelievably light - just under 9 kilos - and a massive sound. Full disclosure: I bought this brilliant sounding combo new but damaged stock. It had suffered a fall and the top left and right plastic corners had shattered. I sourced new corners directly from the good folks at GR in Italy. The carbon fibre board had compressed slightly on the top right corner but I can’t photograph it. I have a feeling that the tweeter crossover was also damaged but I always have them switched off. Included is the slip cover/flightcase type of thing I built - really sturdy and light in itself. There’s tons of info about these online - I’m going to upload more shots when I can and will be happy to take specific pics if asked. I’d be a bit loathe to ship this anywhere so collection from Bournemouth. You’ll want to see it and try it out anyways. Thanks for reading!

  14. So here’s my 208 … never thought I’d sell this ‘cos it’s so blinkin’ useful. I’m only letting it go because I’ve just splurged on a GR Bass combo and space is limited. It’s done plenty of rehearsals and gigs, and is so small and light and sounds way bigger than it is. I had thought that the TonePrint thing was a bit of a novelty, but it’s actually really useful. It will come with the foot switch that allows you to toggle between the last two effects used. In great nick, it’s a real pocket rocket and ready to go. Collection from BH1 only I’m afraid. Thanks for looking!

  15. I just recently bought this combo as an experiment, to see how the sound/versatility/weight scored over my usual Mesa live rig. It actually performed brilliantly, lovely tight sound with loads of headroom and I’m really loving the TonePrint feature.. totally portable and lightweight, but my Mesa’s just sitting there calling me back. I’m so impressed with it that I’ve gone and bought the 208 version for rehearsals - it weighs nothing and it really is surprisingly capable. This 115 is in immaculate condition with an unmarked Roqsolid cover. Sorry, collection only from Bournemouth or happy to meet somewhere mutually convenient for gas.

  16. Bit of a weird one this … so I bought a used 5 string Squier, pulled the frets, filled with epoxy and sanded, installed two Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, (£200 right there… ) bought a Musicman-style plate, connected it all up together, threw on a set of gold nylon coated strings and presto … an extremely playable 5 string fretless with a great sound! This bass won’t ever win any beauty contests but it sounds really good. Incidentally, the Squier neck is EXACTLY the same profile as my Fender Elite 5 string, super comfortable and weighs in at 10lbs. Not for everyone, but maybe of interest to someone who’s looking for a decent budget 5 fretless. Pref. pick up in sunny Bournemouth but happy to courier at cost. No case on this one I’m afraid but my packing skills are legendary! Thanks for reading …
