Great pic. He was cool as...

Lucky enough to see them a few times over the years and one show (with Brian Robertson) was, to this day, one of the best gigs I've seen - the band were right on top of their game.

Also saw them with Snowy White and John Sykes (separately) playing foil to Scott Gorham and, whilst neither were as good a fit as Robertson (imo), and parts of the shows may have been patchy with some of the material not up to the standard of the mid/late 70s Lizzy (again, imo), Philo was always fabulous.

For me, one of rock and roll's great frontmen...

    yes he was

For the first time I can ever remember, when I last re-stringed my bass all 4 tuners ended up perpendicular to the headstock when tuned up*. So now I simply carry a set square around and tune by setting the angle.

    *This bit is actually true

Really, G-E although I don't think it really matters. They are never out by much anyway and usually due to relative heat/humidity in the room.

set square a must for tune ups i use on my car aswell 😎

    Hello from deepest Hampshire.

Been lurking here for ages have finally decided to sign up. First picked up a bass in the mid 80s and went through a few bands before family & mortgages caught up with me & limited me to the occasional bedroom noodle. Had to dust stuff off again in the last couple of years as one of my old bands organised an annual charity reunion, and I couldn't let someone else play my basslines 😂

Gear wise, I've been using a my trusty stingray for the last 25+ years but picked up a cheap EB5 last year which has surprised me somewhat as I'd never rated Gibson basses before.

Anyhoo, I'll keep lurking, and may pop in now & then to add my four pennorth 😊

ok look f'ward to ur posts
