I also prefer lighter gauges on Status basses, currently 35-95 resp. 35-120 (five strings). For some reason, on this bass I felt better with 40-100 (original Status Hotwire Double Ball Strings). But also with this slightly thicker strings the bass allows very fast playing and low action. In general the ergonomics are excellent on this bass.

Because of him I started to play bass back then. But on that bass I have 40-100. Gives a bit more richness to the sound and adds some more natural forward bow to the neck (at least according to me ) as those models came without the truss-rod.

2500£ / 2950€ Considering to sell my Status Series II Bass. Hard to let it go, because it’s a beautiful instrument, but in the end, I prefer 5-string basses, so before it doesn’t get played at all anymore, maybe it’s better to sell it... Status Graphite Series II I assume from the late 80s, but I’m not sure as I got it myself used. It hasn’t been played much during the last twenty years. But it probably has been played a lot in its early days, because it has some marks on the body. I tried to document them as good as possible on the photos. In general, the bass is in a good condition for its age. Everything is functioning, but the knobs are scratching a bit (especially the volume knob). The playability is very good, as it should be on a Status, allowing low action. I have a case for it, which is fine inside, but not in such a good condition from the outside. I don’t know if it’s the original case, it just has always been there. Anyway, it’s good enough to serve for sending the bass to a potential buyer. Currently I’m not interested in trades.

Back up for sale is my Wal Mk2 5-String from August 1987, now reduced in price to £5100. Mahogany body, shedua facings. It has the usual dents and scratches, but in general it’s in a really good shape for its age. The major ones you can see on the photos (scratches on the front and bumps on the headstock). The damages are only cosmetic and have no negative impact on the playability, sound or function of the bass. The bass sounds and plays great. It’s set up professionally and strung with Dunlop 45-125 strings. The frets are in excellent condition. I got it myself used some time ago. The weight is ca. 5,2 kg. I don’t have the original Wal case, but I have a case to transport it safely. The bass is located in Germany / Munich.

Never had the chance to try the Mk1, but I guess you're right the Mk1 is comfier and probably lighter , although my favourite shape remains the Mk2. Thanks a lot for the hints especially regarding talkbass, I appreciate that very much! I visited talkbass some time ago and I had the same impression, so I'll consider indeed ...

Hi everyone! I have a Wal Mk2 5-String, that is living in the closet most of the time, so I’m considering to let it go, although it’s hard with such a beautiful instrument. The body is made of Brazilian mahogany and the facings of African shedua, so it Iooks pretty awesome. It was born in August 1987, and it’s still in a really good shape for its age. It has the usual dents and scratches. The best would be to see and to try it before buying, but most of prospective buyers will not have this opportunity, so I’m prepared to ship it. I know it got more complicated and also more expensive now for Buyers from UK and vice versa due to the VAT issues. Therefore, I assume the bass will rather find somebody in the EU, but who knows Money is important, but an easy and smooth transaction as well. I’m not so much interested in trades as the only other basses I really love are the ones from Status (preferably S2 or S3). So, in case you have a spare one you can try

Hi everybody! I'm selling my Status S2 Classic, 5-String, fretless, bolt-on, headed bass. I'm selling it, because fretless is just not for me and I prefer to play my other two fretted Status basses. So this one is just lying around and that's a pitty. The specs are: S2 classic, 5-string, bolt-on, plain fretless, headed, black phenolic fingerboard standard string spacing (18mm), 35'' scale, Facing-wood: maple, Back-wood: Mahagony, Tone-block: Walnut, Veneer: red, Finish: natural 2 x Soap-bar pickups, Board 302, Hardware: Gold, Custom options: Figurd Maple, Plain Fretless with Custom "Wrap-Round" Side Markers The original Status hard case is included together with the original tools and keys for the hard case. I'm the first owner and I bought the bass back in 2009 directly from Status. As you can see on the pictures there is a Roland GK-3B pickup/controller installed with screws on the bass. I used the bass (mostly at home) together with my Roland VB-99 system, so that's why the GK-3B pickup/controller is installed. Maybe you will not like that, but it's there, and if I remove it there will be holes of course, so I think it's a better idea to keep the GK-3B on the bass, and maybe somebody will even have a use for it. There are marks on the fretboard as I play roundwound strings, but I think not too many as this bass was played very little in general. Currently there are new Elixir Nanoweb Super Light strings mounted (40-125). The bass is located in Germany. Shipping is possible of course. Cheers!

Roland VB-99 V-Bass System with original Roland VB99 bag, Roland PDS-10 stand and a still unpacked Roland GK-3B devided pickup/controller. Bought new in 2009. Barely used, so all the sound presets are still untouched and in very good condition. Also included is the original AC Adaptor PSB-1U, the GKC-5 cable (5 meters), the short jack cable to connect the bass signal to the GK-3B controller and the printed manual in german Not included is the USB cable and the RRC2 cable to connect the VB-99 to the FC 300 midi foot controller. There is a little scratch on the VB-99 below the GKC cable connector and the plastic of the GKC cable connector splitted a bit (as shown on the pictures). But everything functions perfectly like on the first day. The VB-99 system was connected to my Status S2 classic 5 string fretless bass which will be subject to another topic. The items are located in Germany, but shipping should not be a problem. Cheers!
