Timber frame on top of a steel based which will be on ground screws. It'll be white render finished, fully insulated. Plastered on the inside and painted white. We're using a mechanical mole to route the utilities underground to save digging a trench 200ft up the garden.

Need to get WiFi down there too... not sure on the best route for that. My brother in law who's a bit of a IT whizz suggested some kind of radar system, not sure how that's works but he'll help us with that.

If you are laying a cable for electricity, why not just put some cat6 cable in the hole at the same time?

Opps I should really read all the replies before posting.

Somewhat like Liam Neesom talking about the Taken series 'once is unfortunate but twice is a little careless'. Not saying that's the case here but you might suspect there's a reason.

Isn't Liam up to "Taken 3" already?

  3. The bass player, Alan Longmuir was a plumber, and fitted a new kitchen sink in my parent's house just before they made it big.

Funnily enough my first girlfriend (and now wife) was a fan, had the tartan trimmed trousers and saw them play at least half-a-dozen times.

  4. What can say about Thomas Lang!   I'm not a drummer, (I'm hardly a bass player) but his foot dexterity just blew my mind - why are drummers the butt end of musician jokes when they can do that?

Thanks to Dad3353 for providing this link because it has cheered me up in a very positive way after a bit of a tricky day.

  5. Novice bass player here, but can someone quantify what "playing behind the beat" means in terms of time. i.e. are we talking a tenth of a second, a hundredth of a second, or something even smaller?

I'm guessing that is done by "feel" (i.e. you can't count it) and not being a sensitive soul, I'm just not feeling it.

Either that or it is blind performance panic on my behalf because the few very times that I have played with a drummer (and he was good drummer) he kept on telling me to slow down.

That must put me in the leader category ;^)

  6. Off-topic response to ahpook: many years ago I attended many BSI meetings and was once told that the BSI had a "British Standard Turd".   It was essentially a fluffy ball/pompom thing on a string.   It was used to test whether or not WC/cistern combinations passed the current BS for toilets.   The string was necessary to retrieve the "turd" after the flush test was over.
