  1. Christian popped round early morning to pick up an Epifani cab from me! Thanks for being so flexible on the timing, I really appreciated that - he's a lovely guy and all went smoothly. I'd absolutely buy and sell with @CJPJ again in the future!
  2. Interested in the Bass Standards book @Burns-bass- please DM with a price.
  3. There are plenty here that can explain it much better than I but as I understand things: - Your ABM will output 600 W with a 4 ohm load (1x 4 ohm cabinet or 2x 8 ohm cabinets) - It probably gives about 350 W with a 8 ohm load - So 5.2 ohms I would guess will get you around 550 W output, so almost the full amount but not quite. Note you wouldn't be able to pair second cab though as that would take you lower than the recommended minimum load for the ABM head. The important thing to remember is that 300 W is not half as loud as 600 W, and I reckon you'd hardly be able to tell the difference between a 5.2 ohm cab and a 4 ohm cab if all things were equal (same number and type of drivers). Your subsequent volume not only depends on the output of the amplifier but the number of drivers, size of drivers and their efficiency.
  4. Happy New Year bass chatters! I'm probably going to regret this in a few months but right now this cab is surplus to requirements and I want to free up the space and some funds - I'm downsizing and consolidating on to my GR Bass mini rig that serves all my current needs. For Sale only, I offer this fantastic sounding Epifani UL310 series 1, ultra lightweight Bass Cab. Tech Spec as follows : Dimensions: 23" (H) x 21.5" (W) x 16.5 " (D) Power Handling: 750 watts RMS (1800 watts Peak) Speakers: (3) B&C 250 watt RMS Cast Aluminum Frame 100 watt RMS Tweeter (variable) 5.3 OHMS Weight: 47 lbs / 21 KG Collection only, from Watford, Herts. I purchased this cab a few months ago from this forum, original ad:
  5. Fortunately I've got hold of an official copy of the book Offer much appreciated though.
  6. I think I'm just going to take it month by month and see how it goes. First target, make it to the end of January! Fingers crossed I can muster some level of willpower.
  7. Thanks, any suggested recordings / albums that are worth checking out?
  8. Damn Brexit 😪 With shipping, custom fees and import VAT it's cheaper to buy the cabinet new from BassDirect if you're UK based.
  9. I'm wanting to get ahead of my New Year goal of getting on top of walking bass. I've been given a lot of useful advice of how to approach getting started on playing but I wanted some recommendations of listening for inspiration. I don't really know who the goto's of walking bass are, and what outstanding albums / tracks are out there (classic and modern). If you have any recommendations please let me know so I can start putting together some inspirational play lists. Thanks
  10. The 2*8 cab to complete my GR Mini rig.
  11. Completely echo this. I went through a complete gear refresh this year, from basses to amps to pedals; I think the only thing that stayed from previous years was my TU-3 tuner and maybe my cables. But i ended up with a really nice bass and amp setup and set of very functional boss effect pedals that cover all the basics: drive, octave, wah, synth and compression. Looking forward to getting really stuck into them all in 2022 and maybe getting back out there into the band thing after a few years hiatus. That being said, I really like the look of the broughton pre's - will have to keep GAS at bay until at least my birthday in April lol
  12. @ped really should rebrand BC as BassGearChat 🤣 Let's not derail Andy's FS thread though - this bass is genuinely up for sale and it would probably be more helpful for comments to relate to questions about the Bass rather than good humour about the OP's gear throughput ✌️ (which was less than mine this year 😱)
  13. If you buy used and sell them on then why not- financially it's very little risk. It's only painful, as I learnt over the past few years, if you buy a bass new and move it on; that's when it hurts.
  14. Firstly I wanted to say thank you for everyone who has commented on my thread, some of you guys have put a lot of time into your responses which I am most grateful for. With Christmas preparations I'd not had a chance to really check back on all the advice given. Firstly, I opened this thread saying I wanted a professional / studio quality recording. That was a naive statement to make; I am not a professional / session quality bassist so my own ability / skill level is never going to allow me to achieve that. But I do want to be able to produce good quality recordings to be able to use as demo's for perspective bands and perhaps a bit of occasional social media. I hear all the advice on not investing more money on gear, I don't want to do that - I want to use what I have more effectively. In fact I'm not even going to entertain mic'ing the cabinet and will work with a single DI feed either from the Amp's DI or straight into the SSL audio interface. I'll take some time to properly read through all the suggestions post Christmas when I get a few minutes!
  15. After having the pleasure of hearing the Sabre in action I have a definitive answer / suggestion. Sell both, the Sabre looks as good as the Aerodyne and sounds fabulous. The Sabre visually and sonically suits your band really well too so it's a bass that should be well used Selling both would cover the cost, or give you enough for a second Sabre as a backup for when the 602 start touring the new EP!! Edit - just seen the weight of the Sabre in the other thread -- ooof. That would be a consideration for me.
  16. Well I think I've done a pretty significant refresh of all my gear this year In: Sadowsky Metroline MV4 Ibanez SRF700 Fretless GR Bass Mini One Amp Epifani UL310 Cabinet Boss BCB-6 Pedal Board Boss BB1X Boss BC1X Boss OC2 Boss AW3 Boss SYB5 Radial Pro DI SSL2 Audio Interface Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro Headphones Software: cubase 11 upgrade, a few IR packs, EZ Drummer Jazz kit and midis Midi Keyboard In then Out: Trace Elliot 122H Combo ACG Retro4 Pedal Train Nano+ Pedalboard Xvive Wireless Kit EBS Microbass 2 Out: Sandberg VT4 Sandberg VS4 Mayones Jabba 5 Markbass LMT500 Head Markbass Traveller 2x10 cabinet SansAmp BDDI v2 Line6 Helix FX Fender MX Strat Gibson Les Paul Gretsch Hollowbody Focusrite Solo Audio Interface Steinberg Audio Interface Audio Technica Headphones That's quite a lot in - must be better next year.
  17. Got a new set sitting around? String one up, record, move the strings to the other and repeat. Needs to be a blind test though, so recordings labelled guitar 1 and guitar 2 so no visual bias influences votes.
  18. As you know I'd keep the Fender, but I like MIJ Fenders and I've never warmed to the Yamaha BB shape aesthetically. You've done a nice couple of mods to Aerodyne and it looks killer, amazing colour! Perhaps a side by side recording would help ? How they play and how they sound should be the deciding factor I guess.
  19. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  20. Sean seems to be doing a lot on Social Media recently. Though did I get the end right, despite all that fancy set up Warren just took the isolated DI feed?
  21. Full details can be found here on the Radial - Pro48 web page Excellent condition but not boxed, price includes free delivery to mainland UK. Surplus to requirements as I'm either using the DI on the amp head or going straight into the Hi-Z input on my audio interface.
