  1. Many thanks to Doctor J who just bought my pair of G&L bass Humbuckers.

Great comms and lots of patience as I updated him on delivery to Ireland

from UK with Customs fees involved. Friendly throughout the deal

so I can recommend Doctor J very highly.

  2. Hi everybody and I hope all’s well where you are.

Got misenn a nice Lakland Skyline 44-02 ( 2011 ). For variety ( got a 55-02) and to have a tone control when

in passive mode I’ve had the pre swapped out by Steve at guitarlodge.co.uk  ( for a 3 band Glock)

so he’s checked over the LH3 and replaced the old dodgy 3 Way toggle switch with a new one for the humbucker coils ( Either or Both).

Tested by Steve, this is good to go. Labelled up.  The jack socket is fine and didn’t need replacing.

Push Pull Vol for active/passive, pickup blend, Bass Mids Treb.

He adjusted the small Gain screw ( see photo) on the Pre board to match active and passive volumes.

The board’s mid frequency adjustment dip switches are set to 550 Hz but suit yourself with the

options , see photo below. Really useful adjustment this. ( I nicked the photo highlighting the Gain screw so

that shows the dips set at 500Hz )

Pot shafts are 6mm split and the soft touch rubbery ( with plastic inserts ) Lakland knobs are included

    and look hardly used.

    Thanks for looking.

  3. Hi everyone. This is Revision 1.1 Pre Amp + Pots and switches - Still available for £40 ( Pickups now sold - hence £150 Originally)

I got a G&L USA L2000 (2002 ) recently and have had it refreshed with a new preamp and pickups

by local excellent bass and guitar technician Steve Barratt at guitarlodge.co.uk in Felixstowe.

He’s prepared the old preamp for me to resell, replaced one faulty switch and bought a new jack socket and

made all connections good. Then Tested by himself.

Steve labelled the parts ( Blend is the neck/both/bridge switch ).

The board is Rev 1.1 as you’ll see in the photos along with Paul Gagon’s ( Ex G&L electronics top guy)

low down on the Revisions 1997 and 2011 ? but see what I extracted from Basstalk site.

Very minor revisions ,he writes, and the latest (2011) Rev 1.3 has some filter to cut

out possible radio interference which some players’s set ups or location can occasionally pick up.

Must be rare that, because the Rev was only introduced  after donkeys years from first edition preamp.

    £40 includes UK delivery.

No knobs ( on my bass ) but Armstrong sell beauties to fit ( see photo ) aluminium, super shiny

chrome finish and knurled nicely rather than pointy-style like some.

    Thanks for looking.

  4. Meanwhile, ahead in the future by 14+ years ! WD40 just work fine this afternoon ( Put yer Marigolds on!)

for meon a 3 ply plastic Tort Fender Jazz pickguard. Bought a used bass but the film had been on this

guard for years I think. Wrinkled and a fiddle to pull off the film in several pieces. The whole guard had

seemingly most of the adhesive left all over it.

A clean cotton rag I used. Sprayed plenty WD40 on one half and rotated the rag after wiping off towards one end.

Then a new rag to do the other  half , working towards the other end. 2nd spray to finish it all off.

Then paper kitchen towel rub down followed by warm water and washing up liquid front and back. Rinse.

Looks nice n shiny. No damage to the shiny surface at all.

So, +1 WD40 in Jan 2024. From total mess to shiny with 5 mins of work ( Once I got the chuffin film off - 45 really ! )

    Cheers all.

    Quent.

  5. I just bought Gerry’s Squier Mini P and I can’t recommend him high enough to do a deal with.

Great communication, packaging, price and loads of patience when the collection

from him was delayed by the courier. Friendly and helpful with advice too.

    Thanks Gerry!

  6. Hi,

I took these tuners off my 2016 Spector NT4 and replaced with Gotoh Gold GB707 , hence photo

    to show Drop In compatibility.

Just home use by myself for a few months ( I bought bass new in 2018) before putting the gold set on.

So excellent condition and very little use. They’ve cleaned up as well as the other same size set

I’m now selling (£45) on here , just no Spector Logo on these.

The diagram dimensions are accurate in the photo. I have digital calipers. Just had to change a couple of dimensions

on a Wilkinson open gear diagram.

    £40 includes UK postage.

    2L-2R

    Weight 238g

    Cheers.

  7. Hi,

I replaced the black tuners on my Spector Pulse II with a Gold Gotoh GB707 set.

The Gold are a drop in replacement. See dimensions diagram which happens to be

for Wilkinson Open gear tuners but I checked dims with my Digital Calipers

so the diagram is accurate. Spector Logos are painted/printed , not a sticker.

£45 includes UK postage and these were only my bass for a few days.

    Weigh 240g, see photo.

Also selling exactly same dimension set from an older Spector NT4

but they are in excellent condition too ( £40 ).

    Cheers.

  8. Hi everyone.

My Stingray is in perfect condition having first been owned 2012-16 by a collector in Scotland who

didn’t play. I bought it from Tom Mulraney of Hoffnine Custom Cabinets in Aidrie in April 2016.

It’s had home play only with me since then and my own collection means it hasn’t been played

much by me so there is no visible wear of the frets and the the body is swirl and damage free.

Strung with a set of Elixir nanoweb coated nickel plated strings with plenty of life in them still.

The original pick guard had minimal swirls so I’ve bought an identical 3 ply BWB guard.

The original case is Mint too so opening this up you’ll see what the original purchaser

    saw back in 2012.

The bass is currently at The Gallery , Camden, London and has been Bass of the Week there

from 18th Dec until 8th Jan.

I can call it back from there any time I need to and post on to you UK insured (£2000) delivery

or within Europe if you pay the extra postage.

(The Gallery won’t entertain anyone trying it there then buying from me.)

    Weight 4.2kg , 9lbs 4oz

    Swamp Ash Body

34 inch Scale, 41.3mm nut, Neck Radius 11 inch.

    Matching Headstock

Neck finish Gunstock Oil and Hand-rubbed wax blend

Super clean of course and I gave the dark rosewood fretboard an oil clean

    and fret polish recently.

I took the photos in a low sun so a few reflections that look like

grubby marks and a little dust looks like slight swirling but there are in fact none.

    Others phots at thebassgallery.com.

White guard is included and the truss rod bar tool and saddles allen key.

I’m lucky to have owned this beauty and it’s wonderful to play but after a few years

my  curiosity to try other basses needs funding.

Cheers and please ask if you need more information.

  9. Mark just bought my Lakland Tribute Custom PJ 44-64 and he was a pleasure

to sort the deal out with. Spanning before Xmas to early Jan 24 it was easy

as he paid a good deposit promptly before the balance in January as we

    had agreed.

Thanks again for an easy sale Mark.
