  1. Thanks, Dan Somewhat challenging in this part of the world. It was sold to me in a sealed box, then tested in the shop buy the authorized imported in Thailand - Home Hi-Fi Co., Ltd. a hi-fi store in Bangkok. I initially emailed them and followed up with a phone call (which was dropped when the questions became too hard) 3 months ago when the problems started to escalate, hence why I went to the manufacturer. This type of "aftersales service" is not restricted to this company alone.
  2. Hi all Just wondering if any others here have experienced the after-sales service provided by Furman? Furman Power Conditioners - can't complain about the service....... because there is none! I bought my Furman PL-8 CE some 3 years ago for light home studio use and for the past 18 months it had gone from a 10-30 sec delay to start up (click, then lights on/power up) to a yet to be understood formulae of random operation not that dissimilar to successfully picking lottery numbers ....well to now.... NEVER! I emailed Furman last month and was appropriately filed as being #CASE1498647 (and then again last week) seeking advice and their local authorised repair shop. No response! In hindsight, what a trap I have committed myself into buying expensive, imported Furman gear, adapting all my power leads to Schuko specifications to find myself stuck with a conditioner that has been "dodgy" for nearly 2 years and has now rendered my rig totally inoperable for over a month. Am I wrong in my assumption that Furman customer support, aftersales service and product really sucks??
  3. Can't go wrong with these for price and quality. I have the Riot 8 and have never regretted buying it
  4. I'd be demo-ing a 12 before buying Playing without a pick on an 8 is difficult enough but striking upwards to hit the bass gauge and then 2 other strings - hmmm you would need to be a pick player with gorilla grip just to play slower stuff. Anything with Rn'R might send you to see the Karpal Tunnel doctor before you ever earn enough money to re-string it! I have owned several 8's over the years and currently have a Schecter Riot8. It is a 34" scale with 18v active electronics. I believe is the best sounding and most playable 8 I have owned. Hag 32" were the pioneers but the world has moved on. Thier re-release scheduled for last year does not seem to have eventuated as yet??? I can thoroughly recommend checking out a Schecter for price and playability
  5. Thanks for the reply... pity .. very nice looking bass well cared for
  6. Please PM me on the price and if your interested in international shipping
  7. If you think that's bad, any serious review of Ebay these days will see Japanese "agents" all listing the same bass sometimes up to 4 times in one day with the price varying from US$50 to $500. I once ( 15 years ago) enjoyed what was a daily 5 min. reviews of new Ebay bass listings but now there some 400+ new listings each day, 50% come from Japan and most basses have been "thru the Ebay wringer" at least 5 times. Contact the seller with legit questions and only 1 out of 10 has a vague idea of the question let alone an answer or the ability to Skype a demo. Buying a US$4k bass just on the description of an unknown Ebayer.... "sure thang" Me thinks these sellers are more likely to be in a call center multi-tasking with refrigerator and white good sales than with than a guitar shop or pvte. seller When you consider the global impact that Japanese bass players have had on modern music - I guess the volume of stuff up for sale only confirms that. I've owned and still play many old Matsumuko's, CIJ US brands - it's a pity their skills in manufacturing good gear does not reflect my current opinion of their place in the Bass community. Ask Ebay to proved a new listing for non-Japanese sales (or any form of communication without a patronizing "stuff you" reply) and you will quickly learn what an anally retentive organization it has spiraled down to these days

  9. Hi, I am an Australian who has been living in Thailand/ SE Asia for the past 10 years. Happy to find this site as I like to keep up-to-date with chat and gear I have been a bass enthusiast for 40+ years and still play for 4-6 hours per week 'Karaoke style' (I no longer have the desire to drag impressive cabinets and gear to play in beer filled ashtrays). I have a studio set up with all the gear and big screen to play with live concert recordings so no one asks me to play obligato or tell me I'm out of tune! Interested in all styles of music but have a penchant for 70's rock and gear If I can provide any info on Thailand you most welcome to ask - picture of Daughter in the studio
