  1. Loving 90-35 gauge, nothing lost in tone and so easy to play

I use custom EB Slinky 40-55-75-100 and I love it. Very balanced. But everything below 45-105 is perfect for me. 45-105 and higher sound very good too but for gigs and playing pick I think. Practice couple hours a day or playing slap/tap, etc. is a nightmare on high tension/gauge strings.

  2. Hi guys quick question. Which flat to choose instead TI Flats? Same clarity and bright sound but more tension are what I need for. Thank you.

@Jean-Luc Pickguard I order them because I heard some samples on YT on Musicmans and sound really bright and modern as TI and that's what I'm looking for. I don't need "Jamerson flatwound sound". I like flats because of direct, compact sound, feel and lak of harshy high end but also I need bright and modern tone. On TI I can play fingers or pick and you don't hear immediately that those are flats like on other strings. And I hope that EB Cobalst give me the same results Thanks.

@acidbass LaBella make great strings but this sound is too dark for me. TI have great sound and durability but are so loose that I can't play fast on them because they stay on my fingers and don't have any "give". I tried D'Addario in the past too but are useless after about year of use. Fenders the same. And sound is rather oldschool thump than modern bright of TI.

@Sharkfinger I wish I could find them in Poland or at least some in Thomann or some shops in Czech Republic but GHS Boomers is what I only found. I like the sound of Bernard Edwards (Music Man used to offer bass players 1 set of roundwound, set of heavy flats and 2 sets of half-rounds made for them by GHS and he used probably the HR because this sound is too mellow for rounds but with kind of snap which cannot find in flats, but anyway...) Thanks for advice.

  5. Hi. Any half-rounds/pressurewound strings users here? I have a couple of questions ;) I know that D'Addario and GHS make these ones but is there any other company that make HR/Pressurewound strings? How does it feel and how is a life of those strings compare to flats? I use exlusively flats since 8 years now but maby it's time to experiment a little bit but I need to know if their life is good because I don't wanna change my strings every month. I change my flats every 1-2 years but not less. Thanks in advance ;)

@Pow_22 But how about life of the strings? Same like flats or rather like roundwounds?

  6. Hi guys. Quick question about capo for bass. I need something to hold the strings on the first fret so I can measure relief during bass setups. That's all. Simple "holder". Any thoughts and advices? What should I buy to get a solid capo with bass? I always use my left hand and right arm to press strings to the last fret but it's always a pain in the a** to get good and easy measurements. Thanks in advance.

  7. Hi guys. Any thoughts about how to choose better pickup and electronics for my Ernie Ball Musicman StingRay 4 3band eq?
I want more mids and less treble than in factory pickup and electronics. Which one will be best in my case? There's so much options on market and I almost always bump my mids and cut some treble on my Stingray so I need something that it will be more transparent and flat sounding or at least more mids and less treble. Thanks!

@Higgie Great sound! I'm corious how it sounds in fretted StingRay but on your fretless there's a lot good growly mids which I like in bass. It's always give you sound that break through the mix. Thanks. And how you solve problem that the input jack is in different place than in original StingRay bass?

I just need a little bit different sound. I like StingRay but harsh extended treble and harsh and scooped mids are nt what I want. Just useful high end and little bit warmer and better mids than scooped and harsh. That's all. And I know that changing preamp and/or pickup could change that for sure.
@Higgie Could you tell me more about it? Which nordstrand pickup and East preamp? Do you have Musicman type of bass and use this preamp and pickup?

  9. Hello. Is there any studio/sideman bass player here? ;) I want to ask what producers and engineers want from bass players today. I mean which basses, amps, effects and all king of gear is a must for session/studio player to provide the best demanding sounds and effortless quality in the stage/studio? Really need to change my gear to be most versatile for any scenario as possible. Many thanks!

      Thanks for the great replies!
@Ramirez Could you tell me little about gear? Which bass did you record was the "easiest" and "great sounding" right after plug it direct? I have Musicman StingRays (those "after-EB" with 3band eq). Is that good and versatile enough bass to cover most of the scenarios or I must looking for other bass? I always want to know what bass guitar should have in terms of sound, etc. to give the best sound for engineers. You know... Just plug & play and there's not too much to do, don't need to use too much eq, compression or whatever. You know what I'm sayin. Thanks.

  11. What do you think guys? Does bass cab with 2x12 without tweeter will be a good solution? 2 12'' can do the job without a tweeter ? (Eminence Beta 12A) Could you advice me some "boutique" high end stuff? I don't wanna another "factory" speaker. Thanks.

Thanks for reply guys. I order with tweeter. I think that 2x12 have not so wide freq response to give good full of charmonics sound. 5khz+ is probably ok but 3.8khz might be not enough.
