Just reviving this one to ask if anyone uses their Noble with a valve amp, or would it not be beneficial, I already get the sound I want from my V4B but I’m quite impressed with all the videos I’ve watched on the noble
No I don't. I have a Mesa D800+ where I put the Noble on the front end. My alternate is a Handbox R 400 on its own, which is a bit less subtle.

Pull out the old enclosed jack socket and replace it for a quality regular open jack socket (stereo I believe, as I assume the bass for an active preamp).
Thanks. I do want a functioning bass, but won't that impact the value of the bass to the obsessively 'is it original' brigade?

Well it's not quite glam, but it's an Alembic

I have a pre-EB Musicman which has developed a horrible shorting like noise when I plug it in with certain jack-leads. I recall from another thread recently a basschatter talking about very slightly diffent sized jack plugs. Looking at what seems to make a difference with mine, using old leads where the jack-head has been screwed tightly into the plastic retainer causes the jack to sit very slightly further out (and does not short). Having taken the control unit off the Musicman, the whole jack socket assembly is an old sealed unit that I really don't want to muck about with. Has anyone else experienced his and/or what advice would you have?

Is it a good price? I always thought that these were above an epic but not as renowned as the series or SC sigs.
With the proviso about the red flags, that looks a pretty good deal. It's got a through body neck (unlike an Epic) and a book matched headstock and body. Like Jazzyvee I would say it looks in good nick. It might weigh a bit though and look out for neck dive (wide strap solves that one)

And a beautiful 5 string Wal to boot. Do you chain it to the music stand?

It's made of plywood and sat in a loft for 50 years? I'd be surprised any of it was flat.
They probably didn't want to mention the domed front, sides (albeit they mentioned the broken neck, nack....d pick ups, replaced tone controls (before it went in the loft), refinished body, hybrid machineheads)....what's not to like! And all worth how much?

What a fantastic amp. DO you know how much it weighs (approx)?

It was a flat back.
That went straight over my head. Having laboured to the end of the slightly nerdy history of the bass I thought they said it's uniqueness was the domed back.

looks like it had been strung right handed

If there's a really k......red bass set up at the rehearsal studios, I just take my Noble and a Limiter on a Board down, and it will make most sound pretty good. Added to your Mesa and it sounds brilliant.........just saying! (and you don't need a Noble. My Sans Amp has an Ampeg setting).

Wow, I never even noticed that! Maybe it was a Friday afternoon when they were sorting the serials out...?
The description written by Pete exactly matches the bass, so it most likely is W2727. That might make it a couple of days older
It is a beautiful bass, deserving of a good home. GLWTS.

What a stunning bass. Do you know why the back-plate serial number, and the written number inside the electronics cavity are very slightly different?
-
An alternative would be to keep the lot and put a valve preamp on the front. I use a Noble with with my d800+ and muck about with the Voicing setting. Top rig by the way!

A great bass! How much does it weigh?

In the cold weather I am discovering that one of our cats likes sitting on top of my amp (particularly when it's on). I suspect your MM makes for a toasty Cat backside!

Is the cat included?

It makes me think how much stupid money I paid for a Custom Shop version, which looks pretty much the same bass. GLWTS this is s bargain!

Have a bump on me. This is a gorgeous bass that needs a home!
