1. There is a reasonably sized number of non UK members here on BC and a good number of Cannuks, all are welcome. So 'Hi' from Ez Towers (we're big fans of Canada here having holidayed in BC, Alberta and Quebec). Dive into the various forums and prepare yourself for the massive potential for Gear Aquisition Syndrome :D

  2. Some people don't like to sell their stuff once they've bought it whereas others are not so attached and use the proceeds from sales to finance their subsequent purchases, this is what I do. I have a one in, one out policy; if I had kept all my previous guitars and basses there would be no where to sit down :D Do I regret some sales? Yes, mainly guitar ones, but the sale seemed like a good idea at the time; GAS is a cruel mistress. I will add that many of my purchases have been band driven i.e. I bought kit that I considered more appropriate to the band situation I was in.

    Hilarious. http://youtu.be/TJamLyRMS-A
Brilliant!

To be clear (just in case I did cause any offence) the auto correct to 'candida lout' was what made me laugh (talking about tone and suddenly a chav with a yeast infection pops up, will always raise a chortle from me) not your typing; a quick look at my post reveals a case of fat thumbs/unable to type (where was bloody autocorrect there?!). Great video though.

EDIT: Sorry to hijack thread, maybe a PM was more appropriate in this instance. As you were...

you candida lout the harshness if you want.
Hee Hee, the joys of auto correct :D; I suspect this should've read "dial out the harshness". Sorry, it made me laugh, pleae carry on the discussion re Spector vs Warwick. For the record I've never owned either so have no useful input (nothing new there then)

  5. I had a 35" Lakland, the only difference I noticed was how clear the B string was really clear. That extra inch over 22 frets didn't seem to add up to a hill of beans from a playability perspective although this may have been down to how close the bridge was to the endpin, which is why it felt 'normal'.

Although I think he is a damned fine singer, I actually preferred the Doobies pre Michael Macdonald.

My fave album of theirs and one I still regularly play, What Were Once Vices are Now Habits.
A great album, takes me back to being a teenager in the 70s. The perfect album for playing in the car on a bright summer's day.

    Picked up thisTommy Shannon instructional DVD several years back when I was in a blues/rock band, worth a look. It was only £3 in the bargain bin in a music shop but there are S/H copies via Amazon for not much more;

Roscoe Beck's Blues lesson videos are fantastic. If you can find his 'Blues Foundations' video on DVD you'll be set for anything those guitarists throw at you. I've been playing blues for years and he gave me lots of great ideas.

And I reckon you'd be set for just about anything blues-wise.

  8. I have an SR1605 (a 1205 with a different top), the string spacing is akin to an MM fiver (about 17mm), slim neck front to back, no neck dive, super light, transparent sounding preamp. The bodies are quite small (thus the light weight) which can make playing on your knee feel a bit odd if you're used to wider bodied basses and because of the finish they are susceptible to dents and dings.

My Lakland DJ5 came with a new set of them; the B and E string were dead. Initially, I thought the bass had a problem.
Changed the strings and all is good...
My latest Ibby came with them fitted which was handy as I was using them anyway, but the B string wasn't as clear as my old Lakland. I initially put this down to the different scale lengths (35 vs 34) but the other day I changed the B string for a used Elixir I had laying about - much better, so I changed all the strings. I can only surmise that Elixirs bought on a grand scale by bass manufacturers might be of an inferior quality.

    Robben's playing is just amazing.
RF's Talk To Your Daughter pretty much has The Yellowjackets on it for many of the tracks and Roscoe Beck playing bass on other tracks; a bit more bluesey and less fusion-like but still a great album, Help The Poor is awesome
