I'm totally with you. I don't mind a decent refinish. I'd happily live with that '62, it looks awesome. 

Your '70 as pictured above has a very satisfying shade of blue combined with the tort.

Peavey Rudy Sarzo signature

Fantastic top of the line Peavey, made in USA. Apparently it's from 1990. These aren't offered very often.

This instrument has many high end features as a neck through construction, ebony fretboard, fancy inlays and high quality hardware.

The bass can be played passive or active (3eq) and sounds great either way. The two pickups are humbuckers, and I feel it gets into Musicman territory. The response is pretty quick, which reminds me of my Modulus basses. 

Playability is Awesome. The action can be set very low on this one, which probably helps in providing the quick response of the notes. Play-wise it's pretty much like my Modulus Flea, though the neck on the Peavey is just a bit fuller feeling.

The condition is pretty good for its age, with no serious damages to be found. All hardware and electronics work. The treble knob runs stiff, but works. The neck is straight, the truss rod works well, the frets are still good to go.

Included is the original hardcase and documentation.

Fender Mustang Bass 1970

For sale is my great vintage ’70 Mustang Bass in a sought after competition red finish with matching headstock.

The bass is all original as far as I can tell, and is fitted with an uncommon pinkish pearl pickguard (as sometimes found on instruments from this era).

The serial number says it’s from 1970, which seems consistent with the matching headstock. The pots date back to week 51 of 1970. I don’t have a picture of the pickup bottoms; the pickguard is partly stuck to the body, and I don’t want to force things when taking it off. The solder joints are untouched.

This bass has been used, and it has small damages and usermarks all around. Nothing serious though, it’s in a very good vintage condition considering the age.
All hardware and electronics are functional. Two of the tuners are a bit stiff and might need some lubrication. The neck is straight, adjustable, and the frets are in good condition. I’ve added an angled shim to get the action lower while retaining a good breaking angle. It’s a comfortable playing bass.

For the sale, the bass will be fitted with a set of Ernie ball flats.

Included is the original "salt ’n pepper" Victoria hardcase.

Very cool and versatile pedal, but I don't really use it. All functions work like they should. Only the VU meter doesn't move much. I've been told it's adjustable with a trimpot on the inside. I haven't checked though as I don't see any use for it.

The front of the headstocks were still sprayed with clear nitro (that's why they are offer darker than the rest of the neck).

A theory; It could have been reacting badly to environmental changes, lacquer cracked significantly, moist got under the lacquer, lacquer peeled off, headstock got refinished.

It's not necessarily intended as being fake, but as part of restoration. Good chance it's a replacement decal imo. 

As pointed out, there are a lot of drilling holes in the neckpocket. I wouldn't be surprised if the body and neck both have been refinished. Based on this pictures.

The decal isn't correct. Even if it would be a '77 with a late use of the TV decal, the patent numbers don't look like other examples I've found when looking at '76 decals (the patent numbers are supposed to be in 1 line, not 2).

I bought an Epiphone bass plate and re-used the original bridge saddles from the Hondo to retain the correct fretboard radius.

I've owned one like this. 

It was a medium scale with a great even sound across the fretboard. Also it was a heavy f%cker with poor balance. 

IIRC I had to replace the 3 point bridge as it had warped and cracked like you'll see on many Japanse basses with this type bridge.

Definite bargain here, it's a lot of quality for little cash.

A variety of scenario's are possible I think.

The owners of the vintage shops have to live from it, so they do have to move stuff to make a living. If nothing shifts at current pricing, they will discount their prices. And if so, the smaller sellers "have" to follow. Although some will never low their prices and rather keep it for sale for another 3 years 

That being said, I suspect that there still could be a growth in the market for late '60s- '70s Fenders. As they are now the relatively affordable range on the timeline for vintage Fenders.

Anyway, if the market prices will get lower in time, it will be a slow process .

Modulus Funk Unlimited (Flea)

For sale is my great Modulus Funk Unlimited from 2008, in highly desirable blue flake finish.
It’s equipped with a Seymour Duncan pickup and Aguilar OBP-1 preamp; a great sounding combo with huge output.

The bass is in clean, excellent condition. Everything works as it’s supposed to. Frets are good too. Playability is superb with a very low action. I’ve never had a lower action on any other bass.

Weight is 4.5kg on my kitchen scales.

The original hardcase is included, which has some damages but functions well.

It's kind of a reluctant sale, but new purchases mean I have to make some choices.

Personally I would enlarge the holes in the control plate a little to accommodate the new pots. Or get a replacement control plate that would fit the bill. There should be enough around I think.

Squire Affinity range basses can be very impressive. I've owned one that played and sounded better than some American Standard Fenders. Should have kept it (like many that I've sold in the past).

Modulus Quantum 4

For sale is this beautiful Modulus Quantum 4 with a nice cherry burst finish and stunning quilted maple top.
Preamp and pickups are made by Bartolini.

The preamp functions are; volume, pickup selector, mids, bass/treble stacked. Mini switches are for active/passive and mid frequency selection. The preamp output can be controlled by a trimpot.

The bass is in very good used condition with a few small damages and usermarks.

The scale is 35", which is a bit too much for me (when I bought it, the seller assured me it was 34").

A non original hardcase is included. Same goes for the straplock buttons.

Yeah there are some nice fancy colours out there. A lot of variation on these. 

The strap is a Mono Betty, very comfortable and sturdy indeed. Not included in the sale though
