Late to this party, but: I believe they actually built more than two, over time (but not many more, probably less than ten or even five). Here is one that was for sale on Reverb a little while ago. It is probably a legitimate 70's shortscale Rickenbacker 4001 (short discussion here, at the Rickresource forum)

Forgot the amps, unfortunately I do not have any photos of those at the moment: Trace Elliot VA 350 Sunn T300 Those are two really great amps, very different in character. The TE is really clean sounding, also when played really loud. The Sunn is pure power, for lack of better words

Hello, While being a member for ~4 years now, I just realized that I did not contribute very much (read: nothing at all) during that time. So here's about me at least: Living in Sweden, playing in two bands (one Captain Beefheart-ish and one Floyd/ELO-ish) and have a special interest in vintage Rickenbacker and Vox basses. I have noted that Rickenbackers are not welcome in the marketplace here, for good reasons - quite an absurd situation, IMO, but nothing to be done about that. Here's one of my instruments And here's one I really want to own, but still haven't found When not doing music I work in my own startup company. That's about it - back to lurking (will try to be more active in the future)
