Thanks for letting me in Lurks!

Hi Folks, wasn't going to chip in this month (holiday etc.), but found myself with a few free hours yesterday and today.
Tune for Basschat composition challenge Sept2023
Imaginary rainfall, rhythmically inspired by something from Isotope's Deep End album from many years ago, kind of.Hope I'm not too late this time!!

Well played, that man! Worthy winner indeed.

Even tougher choice than usual! Good work folks! I don’t think my entry will trouble the scoreboard this time around...

Ok I managed to grab a few minutes this evening, so I can field an entry put together in record time.
An introspective, ambient piano theme to relax you as you lay on your back watching the bubbles drift by through the deep blue sky.
The tech stuff: very light this month. The piano is from the Korg Trinity, reverb is from Lexicon MPX Native and Eventide's Shimmerverb, cooked together in Cubase 12.
Glad to see I'm not the only one doing it all at the last minute!

Hi folks! It has been a while! I wasn't all that bothered this month but I suddenly felt the urge this afternoon. Another quickie, Blackstar BEAM for guitar and bass, drums played with mallets for a change.

I played through a 126 combo last night. It was plenty loud and had a really solid sound, with all the eq flat and the volume on about 2. It was a backline amp provided by the venue, glad I didn't have to lug it up the stairs!

Basement studios in Watford had one in every room, and later the black panelled ones without the back-light. Cool workhorse amps. I think I replaced a 2n3055 transistor in one for them when I used to work a couple of units away on the same road.
When this HH stuff first came out, the e-l back-light was THE coolest thing!

Pic would make a good album cover for my band, Charms Against the Evil Eye...

Anyone use these for overheads on drums? I'm looking at a matched pair as mine (Red5) have a slightly different response, both level and tone. Subtle but noticeable.

Shouldn't these posts be in the Share My Music subforum?

I’m telling myself not to look at this but it’s so pretty! GLWTS!
Me too! Good job it isn't a 4 string.
BTW, shouldn't the description be Mensinger? It's what it says on the head...

That headstock arrangement is really odd! 🤔
A bit like the old S G Nanyo Bass Collection 5ers ?

Was your win carried over from November? I lose track of these things...

Voted. It's very even this year!

Audeze, nice Christmas present. I assume they're noticeably "better" than everything else you had?

Good luck with a condenser mic with that. The Fx stomp box goes to a DI, then, I suppose, to get to the desk..?
For live, will mostly be using a dynamic mic, I suspect

Difficult choices ahead, requires further listening.

My guitarist uses one of these, it's a nice sounding guitar for relatively little money. This is in far better condition, the thin finish gives a very open sound, but he's a heavy handed nurk and has worn the finish round the sound hole to smithereens...

Here is my contribution to the December 2022 Basschat Composition Challenge, illustrated with a picture chosen by the Master of Ceremonies: Lurksalot.
A staple of our repertoire, I've cut out a little of the intro build-up, to keep to the time constraints.
This is, in fact, a practice track for me, when the lads are not available. I need the signals from the vocal lines and guitar stuff, so I made this with MIDI instruments to play along to, using my e-kit and Superior Drummer 3. In fact two drum tracks are triggered, as I wanted to try thickening up the toms. Well it works for me, so...
Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy, and Merry Christmas to one and all.Quite moody, like a Harry Palmer film soundtrack, nice. Can't but help thinking there's something missing though...

September Composition Challenge VOTING THREAD
in General Discussion

Wow! Thanks to all who voted, and of course Lurks and Dad for running the competition. I feel rather unworthy, as this was one of my quickest efforts, and I feel sure others put in far more work than me!
The image for October is already in Lurks' inbox, I hope you all find inspiration from it, it's pretty dark!
