1. Yes, fingerboard radius and bridge are as curved as an acoustic bass.
2. Neck through hand built EUB. I havent played in years so it's up for sale. This is a full one-off hand build made with solid maple, Sapele (IIRC) and a stripey African ebony fingerboard. Hand rubbed oil/poly finish and fitted with a bassmax pickups and a K&K Preamp. The neck is as wide as a regular upright but is slimmer, nearer an NS design depth. As the bridge is free standing, you can effectively have any scale as the fingerboard dots are coloured stickers and you can re-arrange the string length as you see fit. It has it's own drum hardware stand mount and a heavy duty aluminium flight case. Minor issues: The preamp is mounted on dowels in the control cavity with flying leads to the pots and the volume pot doesn't fully decrease (needs a different value). You might very decide to experiment further with individual piezo pickups and different placement, a dual preamp or even add a magnetic pickup. (Extra bridges added) For viewing in person and collection in West London. Full image gallery here: https://imgur.com/a/q3ntS69
3.
I had a fun jam with Paul the drummer, in an ideal world a tame guitarist and/or keys as well would be good for the jam room.
I had a small guitar rig but arrived after 12 and the jam room was empty till the end :/ Otherwise a great day and awesome chaps
4. Was it a Jez? I spoke with who had his three builds with him; 4, 5 and a piccolo. Stunning basses
5. Is it too late to add my name to the list? I can bring my pedalboard, a small guitar rig for the jam room & possibly my DGCFA# Ray35
6. The Ibanez 3/4 is apparently the best built compared to the other scaled down guitars.
7. Hi @sharkfinger Thanks for the reminder. I don't have a scale but would say medium weight for the SUB. Postage not included, both basses come with basic bags but can be packed for shipping. I live in SW London/Surrey. I'm active on the fretboard, see trading feedback http://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/63885/winny-pooh And 100% positive feedback as Wintonead on ebay
8. Hi I'm after a fretless 5 with Musicman/G&L spacing, pref MM/L2500 style, others considered but no J pickups/metal style/red or black basses pls. Budget up to £750 Bullet is only for sale if I manage to get a fretless 5 in to replace it first. The Bullet is an early 80's fretless conversion, fingerboard is smooth with no real wear, some minor finish dings and small chip off the body edge. Original pickup with added "activator" 2 band active eq (pulling vot pot changes it to passive), currently has Daddario flats Feels lovely, retro mojo. Trade value/price £240 http://i.imgur.com/1lQGgFN.jpg Full album: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8BehOFw9cheSERkUGVnMEtWb0k SUB is from around 2003, same spec as a Stingray classic. Price trade value £485 (sold on the thefretboard.co.uk) http://i.imgur.com/A9gMDHQ.jpg
9. The J&D I had was perfect. Quite impressive although I assume basses will vary.
10. The Grammys are a bit like the House of Lords nominating MPs for "best services to society".
11. Not quite Northolt but one of the better music venues is the Hootenanny in Brixton, free nefore 10pm and great bands. Brick Lane and surrounds have good venues too plus Rough Trade.
12. Stuff will sell on Gumtree if the prices are decent. Location is a factor too. I sell on Gumtree and ebay with the ebay price being 12% higher to cover fees. Gumtree has more one-text-&-gone types but you don't have to deal with the ebay buyers who change their mind following a sale nor shipping.
13. The only really good sounding acoustic bass is an upright. In a pure acoustic setting they are a joy, more reason to double.
14. Jonathan is excellent, did great work on a tele project of mine and works on guitars for a number of pros.
15. How bright do you want it? Daddario ground wounds have higher tension due to the thicker core. I ised to use a 4 string set tuned DGCF and it was great. I've also made up a custom set of single EXLs that topped out at 145, fat low B on that.
16. The E on most sets sounds different. Vintage style flat sets are more affected by this that mosern sets like the Daddario chromes or EB cobalts.
