Total Watts

1. I have an Italia Torino that I love, and is my go to bass for a lot of gigs. Easy to play, and has a lovely old school thud with flats on. Perfect for soul.I have also started to use it as my main bass for the punk tribute band I play in, played with a pic, through an Odb 3 into my CTM30 and a couple of 15s. We bit of Flanger or Phaser when the mood takes me too. Makes a fantastic 70s punk growl. Looks too cool slung low too. I didn't try the Chowney basses at the the show, but the guy behind them is a top guy, passionate about getting the bass bass for the money. I've played the Coronado and Starcaster basses and was seriously underwhelmed. As a lifelong Fender player, I was very disappointed. The Eastwood is a nice bass too. If you can find a DeArmand Starfire, they are great basses, I nearly bought one hours after I bought the Italia, but the shop had just taken it in and couldn't decide a price.
2. Personally, I think for a covers band to be pulling this is bullshit. I'm aware they are a professional touring band and out to make a living, but they are not, and never be Thin Lizzy. If you play the blues circuit, there are a hundred bands playing the same songs. You don't cry about it, you up the ante and make sure you give the punters the best versions you can. Those songs are from the pen of the amazing Phillip Lynott, nobody who wasn't involved has any right to ownership of this material.
3. Nice one BassAgent, ill be stopping at Ashdown first to say hello, then just wandering! Be good to put faces to names.

5. Just having a nosey round Bluejay's blog from last year. And there's me chewin the fat with Jah Wobble! Cool!
6. I'm there on Saturday guys. Scottish guy with a beard and probably an Ashdown beanie.
7. Love that trace sound. Although my main amp now is an Ashdown CTM 30, I still have my SM series 150 as a back up. I've also owned a SM7215 combo, and a V type 4808 combo. I always found the SMX over the top for me, and think the SM preamp is a fantastic, simple to use.preamp. The v type is an amazing preamp, and despite the combo weighing as much h as my car, I miss that instant smack in the face sound of the 4 8s sitting on a 1 x15. I've always been complimented on my sound, and for a long long time, it was always through a Trace.
8. Always go to Wunjo when I'm down in London. Great shop, always helpful, good craic and happy to,let yo u try things. Only bought bits and pieces there, but they are always great to deal with.
9.
Trace watts do seem conservative also there voicing probably helps too. I have a 200w combo 300w with another cab and it's easily the loudest solid state 200w I've heard. I'm surprised a ctm 15 worked for a full band jam although the mb 2x10 cabs seem really good.
It opened a lot of eyes that weekend. It was driving hard, but not overly dirty out front. I've used it in full band rehearsals with two 1x15s, and it can do it. I'm not looking for a perfectly clean sound anyway. Looking forward to trying the CTM 30 with the band, it has the di as well, so will be much better for the job
10. Look interesting, I'm looking for a single 12 or 2x12 to use with my CTM 30 and an Ashdown 15
11. I regularly use a Trace RAH 150 into one or two 15s and never been short of horsepower. Trace watts are a different ball game I've always found. Recent (full band) jams, I used my old CTM15 with a Mark Bass 2 x 10, and it did the damage. The right speakers and a decent amp is better than an amp with a claimed 500 watt power rating.
12. Would love to come to this Alan, but, got most of my trips south booked up for the next few months. Another time!
13. 48, 31 years a bass player. I could have chosen worse paths in life....
14. Made my first trip down last year, had a blast. Got my tickets and flighrts for this year, looking forward to it!
