  1. Hi everyone- I have a truss wheel problem with my Ernie Ball/musicman stingray (USA, 2000, 3 band). To cut to the chase- it fell out. - The long version. The stingray truss rod nut won't loosen, so I can't get more relief in the neck. It turns to the left freely. When I turn it right however, it will tighten the rod and there is an appropriate feeling of pressure. So being a curious cat, I took the neck off very carefully to have a closer look. With the neck off I turned the wheel to the left in my fingers and it was obviously loose. It turned as easy as an easy toothpaste cap might- Then it just came clean off. No snap, no pressure or resistance. It just screwed out. The end of the rod is covered in a big blob of what could be old grease (or possibly glue that has turned to mush?) The wheel doesn't appear to have any damage and will screw back in again. It goes back into place quite snuggly. But I can't get more relief in the neck. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I just want a touch more relief so I can dig in without the strings choking out/buzzing. - I've had it from new 20 years ago, in Taiwan. Taking it back to the shop isn't an option any more. I now live in Spain. The bass has always lived in hot/humid conditions. The neck appears to be dead straight (so no back bow). Ummm... ..any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks, Tom.
  2. I've got an "A" mij jazz bass, in the same vein as this. Much searching through Talkbass and bajistas.org (Spain) led me to understand that these were constructed in 1985. There's a story floating around that many might not have been finally assembled until a few years later while operations in Japan shifted from one factory to another. These basses absolutely sing.
  3. Hi-same question here. Is there a workaround for this? Thanks
  4. Sorry - it was early. PM now sent.

  6. Hi! Is this still for sale? I'm waiting on a HX stomp and if it comes through I'd want to snag this asap. I'm in Leeds. Cheers, Tom.
  7. I had one of these. It did just enough to make my band mates sound good and little enough that I didn't have to think. Then one day I swapped it for a shiny thing in a moment of weakness. Now I spend my time trying to make a shiny thing sound like a CIJ pbass. Highly recommended basses!
  8. Hello from Bilbao Albert!
  9. Thanks so much everyone! I'm really looking forward to trying it out in rehearsals this week.
  10. Thanks Doctor J! Agreed- Old isn't necessarily good. It plays pretty well although a set up would definitely help. I'll know more after taking it to rehearsal this week.
  11. This has pbass has come into my life since the weekend. Can anyone offer any advice on finding out how legit it is? I've been told that it's a genuine 1977-78 USA precision bass (with updated pickups and bridge) that has lived mostly in a case. But I'm honestly baffled as to how a 40 year old bass can look so new, like a bass that's more like about 10 years old. The headstock serial number matches with either a 78 US, or a Japanese 94 or 2008- but the headstock says made in USA (and there are no CIJ or MIJ stamps). Does anyone have any advice on where to find more info about the stamps in the neck pocket and heel? Is there anything else i should be checking? Other details, weighs 9.25 pounds glossy neck, truss rod adjustment appears to be in the right place The owner is asking just over £1000, the hardware has been upgraded, and at some point someone decided to make it active and created a cavity in the body (active electronics since removed). Am I missing something really obvious here or is this the bass of my dreams? All opinions welcome
  12. Big Bump for this amp. I once filled in for a reggae band out in Taiwan and one of these was the backline... ...easy to dial in, mountain clearing heft- just not logisitically feasible for me right now... ...but YOU... you should buy this. Incredible amp. This is a thing you need.

  14. These are great basses! I picked one up on a whim in 2005 and it has been my main bass for the last 10 years.
  15. Are you interested in trades for any other pedals? (PM sent with potential pedals to swap) Cheers.
