Digitech drop is decent, but the key (no pun intended) is in the name unfortunately……….
If you like that brand then ricochet or whammy would be a more go to for that function.
Plenty do full octaves you and down, but tones less so.
The drop will Latch into a higher pitched signal easier than a lower one.
If you don’t want to learn different parts and hand placements why not tune the bass up and then drop it down the various steps you need

The above 2 points nail it
if I was routing I would use a long drill bit to link the pup cavity to the control cavity - it’s such a nice finish it gives you options of clear pickguard or even No pickguard should you desire.
Naughty Fender - but lovely bass

How does one visit the factory?
Might be nearby at some point.
Twas many moons ago pre-covid but I merely contacted and asked and they agreed!
Great fun geeking out on stuff

Different body shape, 22 frets, different neck profile (I believe) and the pickup is now in proper ray position. On the Basic it was much further forward, more P sounding.
I'd still rip the Delano out of it and put in something I like more!
It’s the Sandberg pick up in that video, not delano - no doubt there will be options possibly including Haussel

Guy came up to me after our first set last night and said he loved my bass and my tone was amazing. He could hear every note played. That's a couple of times i've had this kind of comment in recent gigs.
I have to agree that what i have right now has been the best tone i've ever had.
Amp is just a touch above flat with para EQ set to cut the low end frequencies if i need to. Last 2 gigs had wooden floors/stages and it was just enough cut to take away any hint of a rumble. I have the amp compressor barely on just to limit/level out any failings in my technique. Bass tone i make use from full on to full off depending on the song. The Marlowe bass has a kind of rasp to it almost like a Ric bass but with a P bass depth. Absolutely amazing bass and all thanks to our very own @Cuzzie for suggesting i try one.
Sandberg MarloweDK bass
Mesa Mpulse600 amp
Mesa Subway 210 / 115 rig.
I use a TC Electronics reverb for Into the Valley just to fill out the tone a bit.

Personally I don’t bemoan the Tech21 or DG prices.
You are getting a quality product that you will need to pay for not just components but R&D to design this and other products and whatever else the company needs such as rent, wages, machinery etc. add this to great customer service whether you got it first or second hand and an excellent reliability record it’s really not that bad

I have both cabs too, each has their place, and yes EQ settings may vary slightly but part of it is getting your ‘ear’ in on them - you ge used to one, and then to another - but overall - great problems to have!
