4. I have an Italia Modulus 3 with a strange pickup problem. This bass has 4 pups, one for each string. The G string sounds like it is being run through a compressor, also when played with a pick or fingers, the downstroke has a full sound, but when played on the up stroke there is a lack of volume/tone. The bass is set up perfectly, intonation is spot on,there is no fret buzz, the pickups are all reading the same output. I thought that the pickup heights were wrong,i had the same problem years ago on a strat,so tried all pickups at all heights, and the problem is still there,it's driving me mad.
5. I have 4 basses,2 that are barely audible when played un-plugged,and 2 that can be heard un-plugged.Of the latter 2,one sounds great plugged in,the other is weak and characterless. Of the first 2,(my 1st & backup basses) the Jazz 5 (passive) sounds amazing, the other one (active)not a patch in both tone and volume on my first choice. I think that the basses finish can make a huge difference too,i've never got on with poly coated basses, almost all the ones that had "it" for me were either cellulose or un-finished. I ca'nt explain it,it's just some things work together and this is the "mojo" that a bass has.
6. Im just suprised that it's not more common to see through neck P or Jazz bases.
7. http://www.911tabs.com/tabs/a/alabama_3/ I do'nt know if this will be of any use,im not familiar with them, even though we were booked to play with them, but the festival was cancelled.
8. No intention of buying this, but it does look nice though.

20. I could also nominate this.I think it cost me £125.I have had a LOT of basses, including 60's & 70's Fenders,Gibsons, but at the moment, while my 5 string Jazz,(the bass doc) is my weapon of choice,i will use cheap basses, there are some absolute bargains to be had. That can also be said of bass amplification, especially if bought used.
21. I took my Jim Deacon MM to a festival on Sunday and used that in the first set,it cost me £80 i think. In the second set i used a Crafter Jazz that a friend of mine from another band had with him,i think that one costs about £130,both very capable.
