1. To avoid any issues, the pop-in castors were popped out and disappeared. So mine is currently castorless, but light enough for me to carry so I didn't look for replacements.
2. I picked it up with the action plenty low enough for me, with no fret buzz, every one nicely level and ends rounded over. It is brand new but felt like an old friend from the start. I imagine the action could go lower if required.
3. 42mm if I remember correctly. And quite shallow front to back. It is exactly what I specified, he builds very few stock instruments they are nearly all custom built to whatever the buyer wants.
4. My new custom made medium scale 4 string P type bass. Built by Robin Manton of http://mantoncustoms.co.uk with a 1 piece ash body, maple neck, hipshot tuners, gotoh bridge, cts pots. The pickups is hand wound by http://www.catswhiskerpickups.co.uk who I also can't recommend highly enough. The build quality is impeccable and the 6 bolt neck, solid bridge, great wood, gives it fabulous sustain and combined with the pickup, great tone. 2 companies I highly recommend for excellent work at very reasonable prices. John.
5. No longer for sale, fallen in love with it again. It is in very good condition and comes complete with a padded cover. It has a 15" LF driver a 6" for the mids and 2 soft textile tweeters for the HF. It is full frequency with pretty flat response, so accurately puts out the sound of your bass and amp without colouration. Accugroove are USA made and at current exchange rates this would cost around £970 plus shipping. So I'm selling for less than half new price. Any trial welcome, bring your bass and amp with you. Collection only, or could deliver if within 30 miles of Bath. I'm not willing to box up and post.
6. Birdsong was on hold for me but my car needs money more than my bass playing. Gutted to miss out on it but it will take months to raise the money again. Somebody snap up this awesome bass quickly.
7. I've never heard of these basses before so did some research and found http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2013/09/26/bass-of-the-week-mensinger-cazpar/ They look awesome. Shame I don't have the money or any talent on a 5 stringer. GLWTS as they say round here
8. Greetings Enthusiastic Hobbit! Sorry read that wrongly. Nice cab, needs some snakeskin tolex to cover it....imho Is that an ESP/LTD in spalted maple. Sweet.:-)
9. Already have stuff on Gumtree and at Herons Music. Also concentrating on buying a Birdsong or ACG, tricky choice both are great. Will put stuff for sale here if no luck elsewhere. Thanks.
10.
DHA VT. It's a tube in a box that you overdrive - what's not to like?
+1 on the DHA VT series Big choice of VT1 (single 12ax7) and VT2 (2 12ax7's for extra gain stages). Dave will custom build your ideal pedal if his standard ranges don't quite do it for you. http://www.davehallamps.co.uk
11. I'm Barnsie from Bristol and I'm a bassaholic. I only play casually and infrequently in a blues/rock trio and a soul quartet. My current basses are; Fender Modern Player short scale Jazz with Seymour Duncan's Epiphone ET280 completely standard from the early 70s. Amp is Markbass cmd121h Effects from a Zoom B3 until my DHA VT1 arrives Getting rid of; Peavey Millennium AC BXP (not getting on with long scale but lovely) Ampeg PF350/PF115HE (bit heavy and prefer Markbass tones) Zoom B3 (discovered I'm not an effects man except overdrive)
12. The Sparrow is very nice and a bargain if you shop at Coda currently. It's 98% of a Sansamp at pocket money price. That said I'm waiting on a Dave Hall Amplification VT1 as I want a real tube for my tube tone.
13. Is the Birdsong still available? I recently discovered the delights of short scale basses but have struggled to find a good quality one. I'm in Bristol so not too far to come.
